Cavs merged with VLC

Cavs 29 team not strong? They did pretty well at Club Nationals in Orlando.

Coaches not strong? 2 former D1 lax players with strong NOVA roots? You could argue that the 3rd assistant from last year is everything that is wrong with lacrosse, but the 2 new assistants will make up for it.

Are the Cavs 30 and Cavs 31 teams much stronger than 29? Haven't seen those age groups compete nearly as often.

Was the VLC 29 team even around last year? Didn't see them in any tournaments.

Trying to find the humor, as an insider, please enlighten the rest of us.

VLC did not have a 2029 team

VLC started a 2029 team last fall.

Cavs are a B level club in this area. Where a person played in college does not determine if they are a good coach. And “strong NOVA roots” means nothing.

Club Nationals 😂😂. That just shows you are naive enough to pay a fortune for lacrosse without really knowing the landscape or value of a program and the tournaments they attend.

30 and 31 teams?? Half on this thread will be dead by the time these kids reach high school??

NP here - can you elaborate on this? How does one evaluate "the landscape and value of a program"?

Easy, how much are families paying, are those kids becoming better people, and what is the clubs history of placing kids in excellent academic/lacrosse colleges. Any stat other then those 3 is irrelevant. If a club hits all 3, you are in the right place.

Say what you want about Cav’s but my son played on the 2023 team and they now have four D1 commits. All of these kids played for other clubs later but started at Cavs. The merger with VLC makes sense. Cavs is a good program and provided a lot of players a start in the sport.

But make no mistake, Cavs does not get players recruited. VLC does, so now all the younger, talented kids at CAVS have a path to take.

Agreed.

Fair enough - what club(s) do hit all three?

Those are not the right criteria:

Cost - most families don't care; if you are frugal, you are in the wrong sport.

Becoming better people - of course that is important, but too subjective to mean anything; every team has good kids and not so good.

College placement - important for some, but not all. Lots of kids play for love of the game and not for college admissions. But if you do care, then Madlax, DCE, VLC, and NextLevel are your options.

All of those things are accomplished by REC lacrosse. As PP said and I agree, Club lacrosse is inherently around being recruited. Price & good people are adjacent by products. And if you think price doesn’t matter, you live in a bubble.

So who gets the fields in Leesburg? Will they just keep sharing them?

PP here. Guilty as charged. And I estimate 75% of my son's teammates' families live in that same bubble.
