Unless you live next to Cavs field, why would anyone stay on Cavs now for the girls program? Even YJMA has surpassed them.

Seems like a wasted opportunity for the girls side to consolidate as well. Cavs girls program should def find a landing place for their teams if the whole point of boys program merging was to undilute the market

Maybe Crabs guy wants to add girls in the future or maybe the girls can still run as an independent club

Baltimore Lacrosse Club (Crabs) is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Boys division of the Cavalier
Lacrosse Club. This partnership joins two of the top clubs in Virginia together under the Virginia Lacrosse Club
(VLC) name. The addition of the Cavalier Lacrosse Club to Crabs' nationwide network of affiliates continues to
expand the Baltimore powerhouse's national reach, tapping into one of the top providers of youth lacrosse in
Virginia. The Cavalier Girls division remains intact and is not included in this deal.
Cavalier Lacrosse, led by boys' lacrosse director James Cramp, has a footprint that extends throughout Northern
Virginia, into West Virginia and the suburbs of the District of Columbia. Cavalier Lacrosse athletes will have
access to the Crabs nationally recognized programming for development and exposure via elite travel team
participation and attendance at the most prestigious tournaments and showcases throughout the USA.
"I'm excited to work with Coach Cramp, his staff, and the Cavalier families.Together VLC and Cavs, through their
combined resources and experience, can better serve Northern Virginia's best and brightest athletes as they
pursue their goals in the sport of lacrosse" said BLC founder Ryan McClernan. "It is a blessing to be a part of the
journey these young athletes embark upon from youth lacrosse through middle school and high school before
moving onto the college ranks."
Cavalier Lacrosse Club offers lacrosse teams, leagues and instruction for boys and girls from youth to high school
levels, as well as men's elite and masters opportunities. The "cradle to grave" opportunities at Cavalier Lacrosse
have guided dozens of players toward fulfilling their dreams of playing in college. Mentored by a coaching staff
with significant experience at the Division I, II and III levels, Cavalier Lacrosse focuses on individual skills
development as well as mentoring athletes thru the college recruitment process to ensure the right fit,
athletically and academically. The emphasis on #cavsfamily reflects the lasting relationships built with players
and their families and the larger community to which Cavalier lacrosse players contribute

this makes so much sense. We need more consolidation versus more fragmentation of all these clubs. Great news for northern virginia families.

I would hope maybe girls gets folded into 3D out there in Loudoun area., if Crabs/VLC aren't going in that direction.

Now if we can get about 5 more club mergers on the girls side we will get somewhere in an area where girls lacrosse s just simply awful (NoVa)

Thoughts on how the merge might positively impact each grad year?

This move allows VLC to push into the younger age brackets, which they never previously had and allows the the CAVS players to remain in the same program instead of moving programs at the 5/6/7 grade level.

Cavs 2029 team is already strong, and will be a plug and play for VLC. The 30 & 31 Cavs teams will do the same, but neither of those years is as strong as the 29.

The move also consolidates strong coaches, which are becoming in even shorter supply in the region for boys players. More and more programs going the Dad coaching route.

This is a great move for VA lacrosse, and improves competition for the entire region.

Curious if VLC Will move to multiple team per grad year format though, similar to what Cavs did for certain grad years having an A team and B team. Or, starting in the fall will they have everyone try out and field one team per year?

^this. I would be smart for the CAVs girl program to merge with another program. No need to try to go it alone. 3D would make the most sense from a proximity stand point.

With news of The St James starting a boys club, will be interesting to see what happens there? Maybe a buy of Top Caliber?

Curious how families who were unhappy with Cavs and went to VLC will feel about this merger.

doubt it, that's not very Crablike

Don’t know about this year. But strongly believe they will keep 1 team per grad year going forward. The whole purpose of the merger is to concentrate talent in Virginia. Having two teams per year defeats that purpose. Kids that don’t make it will have to apply to TRW or Top Caliber.

I hope that is true …. but if it is, why would they do the merger now instead of over the summer and start in the fall with the consolidation of the teams? The timing doesn’t make sense.
