He's ready to go straight back to the middle ages.

"We're going to cast you out in the name of Jesus Christ!"

Shouldn't he be trying to save them?

I don’t think they had Southern Baptists in the Middle Ages.

This kind of thing is dangerous. Someone might take Exodus 22:18 seriously.

Belief in witches marks someone as a paranoid schizophrenic?

Yes.

That’s untrue. First of all: there are people who call themselves witches. At least one on this thread. Are people who call themselves witches schizophrenic? No.

A person who believes witches exist in the world is correct.

Whether the women this man is referring to are “witches” is not proven. Could they be? Yes? Could they not be? Yes? His statement that they are does not meet any of the diagnostic criteria for his diagnosis by an anon internet poster as schizophrenia.

Anon internet poster is simply expressing an opinion. Here's another: The pastor certainly sounds crazy.

Doesn't matter if the women are proven to be witches or not. Doesn't matter if they are good witches, bad witches or not witches. It's crazy to accuse people of anything for which you have no evidence and no right to make such an accusation.

A diagnosis of schizophrenia has to be made by a specific type of medical professional (perhaps several working together) and meet specific diagnostic criteria.

The term “crazy” is not used anymore to describe people with mental health issues. Nobody chooses schizophrenic behavior.

This type of attitude stinks. Do better.

DP here. Point taken. How would you describe this behavior then?

I would say it’s an anti-theist projecting their mental issues on everyone else. Not even psychologists or psychiatrists can diagnose a person they never met by reading a news article about them. The person diagnosing strangers is probably the same poster diagnosing historical figures with various mental illnesses. They read a list of symptoms online and then feel “qualified” to diagnose everyone! It’s really common unfortunately.

Your post is highly disingenuous.

What those folks are saying is not a clinical diagnosis, they are saying “That’s crazy”, which is vernacular everyone, including you, has used many times.

What they are implying is that he probably is NOT clinically mentally ill, and that he does not truly believe this, and that he is a dishonest charlatan saying whatever he thinks will advance his cause.

No one is attempting a clinical mental health diagnosis.

Schizophrenia is diagnosis, a specific diagnosis. I’ve seen multiple biblical figures diagnosed with schizophrenia on this very forum. Calling people “crazy” is different, and also still wrong. Crazy is the equivalent of the n word in the professional mental health community. It’s a slur. Do you call people who need to use wheelchairs “cripples?” Just stop. My goodness we’ve been over this and it’s still not getting through to you and your nasty, ill-behaved, mean spirited ilk.

see, disingenuous pp? This is definitely a misguided and lame attempt at a definite diagnosis. Along with the labels: crazy, insane. So stop gaslighting, it’s wrong.

Np. I am not a mental health professional. But this guy sounds off to me. No pastor with a large following should be accusing some of his congregants of being witches. No pastor with a small following should be accusing some of his congregants of being witches. While we are on the subject, nobody should be accusing anyone of being witches. The people doing that are in the wrong and when others notice the wrong behavior, you don’t get to deflect their awful behavior by pulling us into a rabbit hole associated with armchair diagnosis of mental health issues.

He wouldn’t need to “expose” me. I’ll proudly announce it to the entire congregation.

Yeah, witches exist.

Pp, what do you think of people posting here that people who believe in witches are paranoid schizophrenics? Does it make you mad, or sad?

It makes me think that people don’t understand the Wiccan path or nature based religions in general. You can even be a Christian and a Witch. It doesn’t make me sad or mad. Just surprised by the ignorance.

It seems you are in denial that some people claim to be Wiccan, and possibly women who claim this also attend this pastor’s church. IDK the situation, but Wiccans exist. Do they attend this church? Possibly. Should they? If they feel they want to? Does the pastor like it? He seems to not. But that’s not mental illness.

I think that misses the point. The question isn’t do Wiccans exist, the question is do they possess supernatural powers.

You know this is what it is. He couldn't keep it in his pants. It's the ultimate misogyny. Any strong woman can be accused of this and he's probably hoping some nut job in his congregation will fix it for him. We should stone people who accuse others of being witches.

Np. No the issue isn't that there are wiccans. The issue is that calling women witches is an act of violence. Any culture that casts women as witches is trash. It is calling for violence against them.
