I'm a vegetarian.

::checks notes:: yep, broccoli is still considered "safe" for vegetarians.

Are you really this dim or are you being deliberately obtuse?

They're not killing the chicken for her to eat, so it shouldn't matter if her broccoli touched chicken she's buying anyway.

You’re really that stupid. Vegetarian means food that has not contacted meat in any form.

I mean...I'm a vegetarian and I would just pick out the broccoli and eat it. Vegetarian means not eating meat. I understand if not eating anything that has touched or been cooked with meat is OP's rule, but don't act like it's some universal definition of vegetarianism.

Then you are not a true vegetarian.

Ohhh a True Vegetarian!

NP here, but I am of the school of not precious or picky too. I grew up not wasting food and eating what I was served. Now that I'm an adult I'll pick out vegetables from a meat dish I am serving my family and I just won't waste food. Don't care what touches what. So I applaud OP trying to not waste the broccoli and having the chinese place not include it in the first place if she doesn't wish to eat it. I also get that it impacts taste for certain people and I respect that as well. We are all True and all Different.

You do what you want. Sensible people know that vegetarians don’t eat food cooked in animal fat or with animal products.

I’m sensitive to certain vegetables so I ask for substitutes.

They are giving you a full order of chicken but they're not going to give you extra chicken unless you specifically ask. And then expect them to charge you more. And don't ask for the broccoli on the side because it's an extra step to cook it separately
