| I love Quaker rolled oats. Steel-cut is marginally better for you, due to higher fiber, but I prefer the softer texture of rolled oats. |
I do a mix. Best recipe I’ve found is 1/2 steel cut, 1/2 cup rolled oat cooked in 3 cups liquid (I use 1 cup milk, 2 cups water), 1/4 t salt. Makes 3 servings. |
| ^1/2 cup steel cut |
None, I haven't heard the term "hot cereal" before this thread. If I were offering them, they'd all be separate terms. "We have cereal, fruit, I could make some waffles, grits, or oatmeal..." |
I think it's steamed before they roll it for rolled oats, so there's additional processing there. |

Is May-po still around?
My kid used to love Malt o Meal. |
Whole buckwheat or ground? |

Not sure about health value but wheat berries are my favorite.

| For health? Steel cut oats. For taste? Lashings of Lyle’s Golden Syrup. |
| I know you said hot, but I love cooked farro after it’s cooled. I eat it with cold milk like any other breakfast cereal and it’s got a lovely flavor. |
|
I did cooked farro in the slow cooker overnight and it was pretty good. I add water plus apples, cinnamon, and vanilla and let it cook overnight. I've done it with Quaker old fashioned oats, but it cooks a little too long. It works with steel cut oats or wheat berries.
Mostly I like waking up to the nice smell and something warm to eat. |
| I cook rolled oats about 6 days a week. I use 1/4 cup of milk, 1/4 tsp of sugar and add a ton of fresh berries. I never get tired of it (although apparently this is junk food if I don't take the time to cook steel cut?) |
| I eat hot grapenuts almost every morning. I just add enough milk to fully cover the cereal and microwave it for 90 seconds. I think they are fine cold but it's a totally different taste hot. I often add in berries or sliced peaches, but even plain it's great. |
Yum, I love this, too! |

I like to make a rice pudding for breakfast with sweet potatoes and cinnamon, sweetened with maple syrup. If I'm on my period it's the perfect breakfast lol, which the addition of some brown sugar.
Overnight oats are great too, I always heat mine up in the morning. |
