This is a good solution.

This is a good idea. I’d try this.

Otherwise I’d do 78 and dress baby like it’s summer for bedtime. Shortsleeve PJs and a 0.5 TOG sleep sack at most. My parents live in Texas and keep their house at like 75-80.

Thanks. The obvious suggestion (to me) was informed by my time in NYC where apartment buildings all over the city can be seen in the middle of winter with the windows open, specifically because of this problem with temperature regulation. Turns out, the crazy temps coming out of steam radiators have their origin with the 1918 pandemic, to encourage open windows: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-08-05/the-curious-history-of-steam-heat-and-pandemics

I’d do 78 with very light clothing as others have suggested. And/or crack a window.

I have issues with my heater so only have the cold option. Bought a Wollino sleep sack combined with warm onesie. Baby sleeps in same room as me.

Overheating is more dangerous to the baby so I would err on the side of cooler temp.

That being said agree that can dress the baby for summer to mitigate the warm temp.

It probably is, the cold walls/windows causes moisture condensation which causes mold. It is not just a comfort issue.

We have a hard time keeping the baby’s room warm (crap insulation in that corner of our old house), and our master bedroom is too small to fit a bassinet. We dress the baby in thick fleece footie pajamas, then layer a thick fleece halo sleep sack. I know loose blankets are a no-no, but I layer one on over the swaddle anyway, keeping it well below the baby’s shoulders, tucking it under on the sides.

Please please don’t do this.

I live in an old house and had two summer babies in it. When it was really hot, 78 was as cool as we could keep things with window AC units.

I’d go for 78 and crack a window.
