| This is probably a housing code violation. Ask your landlord to fix it. |
| We have an old house with the same issue. Kids have dyson space hearers set to 70. Had them for 6 years now. They don't get hot to the touch. We got them refurbished and not new to save a little $ |
This is a good idea. I’d try this. Otherwise I’d do 78 and dress baby like it’s summer for bedtime. Shortsleeve PJs and a 0.5 TOG sleep sack at most. My parents live in Texas and keep their house at like 75-80. |

For a baby, 68-72 is formally recommended. Period.
Ask your pediatrician. |
| You cannot let the baby sleep in there, OP! It could be deadly for him. Put him in your room and you sleep in his. |
| We have this problem in our house. We have a hard time keeping the baby’s room warm (crap insulation in that corner of our old house), and our master bedroom is too small to fit a bassinet. We dress the baby in thick fleece footie pajamas, then layer a thick fleece halo sleep sack. I know loose blankets are a no-no, but I layer one on over the swaddle anyway, keeping it well below the baby’s shoulders, tucking it under on the sides. |
Deadly? |
Too warm is a risk for SIDS. |
|
Move the baby to your room with you and get a safe space heater. That way you're in there with the baby in case of fire. I know I wouldn't worry as much if I were in the room too.
60 and 78 are both intolerable for a baby. |
| Ours is adjustable and I put it on 75, but we're in an old house were the windows are cold and not well insulated. So a vote for 78 here, but use your best judgement. 60 is too low. |
| Wall mounted heater from Amazon. Trust me it is amazing. Auto feature. No risk of burn. Limited-time deal: Heat Storm HS-1500-PHX-WIFI Infrared Heater, Wifi Wall Mounted https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JXRWJ8D/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_dl_5YGWRK76SC6EYS4JV0ME |
| 60 is 💯 better than 78. But I posted the heater above. Too hot is more a risk compared to too cold but with too cold you run the risk of overdressing and them getting too hot once the morning warms up/overnight. |
And yet somehow babies survived summers before air conditioners…
|
| Maybe a space heater - you in the room w him - and like two smoke detectors sitting in the room w you next to the heater |
+1. 78 is way too hot. 60 is too cold. |
