I had my first miracle baby at 34 ![]() Had planned to have my first between 28-30 but life doesn’t always work according to our plans, I believe in God and that He gave my husband and I our miracle at His perfect timing and not ours. |
OP is asking for the approval of strangers in her having a baby. “Would I be too old?” That’s truly weird. |
Isn’t 35 and over considered a geriatric pregnancy? |
+1. I would not want to have to be dealing with diapers and toddlers at 45. |
Yes! |
No such thing really as a rigid time line so in the spirit of arbitrary age rules
50-55 for IVF moms and adoptive moms (only because age starts to kick your but in your 50s and you need a lot of of energy/ emotional reserves to handle teens. 45-50 for biological moms because statistically it is rare after 45 to have a natural baby … not impossible though, my lovely doctor was born when her mom was 48. You are on the young to average side in DC. |
I'd say 45 is older, but know many natural pregnancies in the area where moms were around that age and babies are healthy. |
Tried for years starting at 34- multiple miscarriages. Healthy baby at 41. Best friends kids started college and are in High school. I have a first grader. It’s the way God planned and our lives worked out. Everyone gets some challenges- mine was finding my husband and my baby. Now I’m happily married and others are getting divorced. The world is so much bigger than us. An old friend who had 2 babies born sleeping has a newborn. We are all 48 - different paths different lives. |
DW was 28 when she had our first and I made the comment that she looked like a teen mom in our DC childbirth class. I think the high end of the range here is 40-45. |
Agree. (I was 26 and people thought I must be Mormon or something.) |
Seriously? No. In our circle of friends who are parents (~8 families) no one had their first child before 33, and most were 35-38 when they had their first. |
Same, especially in our umc urban neighborhood and circle of friends, I was the youngest by at least 3-4 years. Most of our friends from college etc had their first 3-4 years after us. |
