I baked black-eyed peas and greens into a lasagna. The noodles should have meant extra good luck for a new year, right? It was ... interesting ... probably not something I'd do again. And yes, the evening was similar to the above. I used canned peas instead of dry beans, so I skipped the 24-hour soak that would have alleviated a lot of the gas. Back to a more traditional Hoppin' John style stew next year.

This doesn’t even sound like it MIGHT be good.

Nope, this isn't part of my culture, but I like when people have things like this.

No, didn't think I had left enough time and didn't realize they came in a can -- I think that's what a PP stated?

Yes

Yep,

My schedule was off, but I managed to eat some on New Year’s Day.

Yes. Hated them as a child, but my parents always made me eat at least one. Literally. One pea. Now, I eat them. Still don't love them, but DH does.

No, we ate noodles, because those bring good health in our culture.

I did something like this ... kind of made it up, but it was good, and everyone ate it!

Yep. With ham, collards, and cornbread. It was part of my family tradition growing up in Maryland, but my dad was from New England and my mom from the west coast. They must have adopted it, but they do it every year and all my brothers and sisters do.

Yes! I tried to get collard greens but got to the store too late and they were all gone.
