I screwed up and somehow this feels like the straw that broke the camel's back

JFC, my kids aren’t school aged yet, but why do schools make everything so hard? If a (presumably) MC/white-collar family can’t make sports happen without stressing out, what hope is there for lower-income/blue-collar families to get to participate?

Honestly, if it’s just a simple form and a box to be checked, as you said, I’d fill it out myself and sign it. Someone is going to look at it for two seconds and file it away.

My office offers a health insurance discount for having your doctor fill out some goofy form and after having them do it the first year, now I just fill it out and sign it myself. Life is full of silly forms, no need to create work and stress for yourself.

I'm so sorry, OP. I totally get it. Totally. Hugs.

Well, OP says she has a job, so she's probably not able to sit in the pediatrician's office all day.

I never ever would have thought of Minute Clinic or urgent care, although now that you all have suggested it, it seems obvious. I really don't know why this hit me so hard, but everything has been a lot lately, and to blown something so easy (dropping off a form!) seemed like the ultimate failure.

I posted mainly just to get it off my chest but hopefully some future panicked parent will find this thread when they're trying to figure a way out of a similar mess. Thanks DCUM, you're a wonderful lifeline!

Sometimes nothing is easy!

Also, would you like to hear about the time that I confirmed a birthday party in the morning and forgot to take my kid that afternoon?

Did you submit the remaining 99% of the paperwork and forms already?

Totally totally understand the feeling. I went through a few years of too much too difficult going on some years back and sometimes I would overlook something and feel like the entire world was going down the drain.

Glad there are some solutions here.

And as for the rest of it, trust me, eventually you will be on the other side of what all is going on these days.

Ok. Most of us have jobs. I sit there and hang out for 10 minutes. Not all day. It's never been an issue.

OP I can relate.

My DD started school for the first time this year while I simultaneously had a newborn with colic and severe PPD. I was in the car with two crying kids on my way to DD's first school physical when the peds office called and said I missed my appt. I had put it in my calendar as 9:45am but I guess it was at 9:15am. I asked when the next available appt was and they snarkily told me the last week in November. I burst into absolute sobbing convulsions on the phone I couldn't even talk.

She told me to just go ahead and come if I was already on my way. When we got there, the doctor came out and took us in to her office and did a quick physical, signed the paper, gave me a huge hug and told me I was doing a really great job. I honestly don't think i will ever forget her kindness to me that day. I'm literally getting teary eyed just typing it.

I hope you find an urgent care that can accommodate. It's hard to do all the things all the time. Hugs.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who would do this.

Sports physicals are mostly a screening for kids who never go to the doctor. What are they even going to do at a CVS minute clinic anyway? The only cardiac exam you are going to get is an NP with a crappy stethoscope listening to make sure your child's heart is beating. If you have a regular pediatrician that your child sees for annual check-ups, this exam isn't going to find anything. Fill out the paperwork and move on.

Hey, no matter how bad you feel, at least you're not the person who suggested staging a sit-in at the pediatrician's office or the one who thinks it's okay to forge the doctor's signature.

If your pediatrician can't be bothered to fill out a form while you're in the office, then find one of the many who will. It's pretty standard practice.

This. you can probably even check the boxes and not sign it and have it accepted
