Help‼️ I Have A Bad Case Of Trypophobia ⏺⏺⏺⏺

Yes I have it and I absolutely hate your emojis in your title and in fact wonder if you are just trolling because of that.

I file people who go around shrieking around “oh, my trypophobia!” alongside the very original “I’m so quirky, I love tacos! Tacos are life!” losers.

I’ve literally never told a single person and yet I hate OPs title.

Do polka dots bother you sufferers?

I have this too. Some of the things mentioned here don’t bother me (sponges, MBJ movie, the dots in the OP title) but most of the others I cant tolerate, especially that damn lotus flower. Another thing that gets to me is when I make baked ziti, sometimes the holes in the ziti noodles line up together which creates a honeycomb looking pattern; not only can I not look at it I can’t eat it.

I’m surprised so many of you that have it also clicked on the links in this post, I’m way too scared to do that. Ive never heard of that frog mentioned but now I’m freaked out because the description has left a visual in my mind that is horrific. Great, it’s probably gonna take a day or two for that image not to be burned in my brain. 😫

How often have you witnessed people do that? I’ve never once told anyone outside of my immediate circle. And it wasn’t because I saw something and reacted in the moment, it just came up during a discussion. I’ve never seen a anyone react like you describe.

Good point, those don’t bother me but I also recognize that it could be a trigger for other people. OP, why did you include a pattern of holes/dots in your title? Also that vivid description of the frog.

I never heard of that. I actually like holes. I like to see what's in them even though I don't like gross stuff.

I posted years ago in one of the phobia threads that I have Trypophobia hoping to find my tribe. Nope, but here you are! Hello freaky friends. Honeycomb, and wasp nests cause a weird physiological response, especially if they’re clustered. Wack a mole is a very stupid game. For me it’s anything that might emerge.

Hi there - I'm part of your tribe, so is DD. This emoji actually doesn't bother me at all, I think its because there aren't a lot of them. There was once a display inside Montgomery Mall in front of Macy's that almost made me faint. I was like WHY did you do that to me!

I read an article about how primatologists used chimps random phobias to help control the animals if they acted up. One was afraid of ice cube tray dividers. So much so that they kept one in a drawer and if the chimp misbehaved all they had to do was pull it out and display it.

Another was so afraid of tarps that they kept pieces of tarp around door knobs to keep the chimp out of rooms.

I freak out when I see snakes....so what's the big deal. We all have slight fobias....

Umm, by the responses, so many people seem to have this condition. Fascinating.

(I am fifty-two.)

Meaning any + every time I see a cluster of organized (or unorganized!) bumps or holes, I immediately feel nauseous/creeped out or just really itchy + uncomfortable.

My worst moment was when I was watching a Michael B. Jordan action hero movie (cannot remember the title).
The scene where his skin is covered in a cluster of organized bumps on his chest made me leave immediately.

Seeing holes on a sponge 🧽 or even a sugar comb freak me out as do a beehive and bedbug bites.
The worst is of course the “Surinam Toad.” 😳
That toad who gives birth through a cluster of holes on its back.

Please….
Anyone else have this weird disorder??

I do not believe for one second that you’re not a troll because 1) you literally put images of organized dots in your thread title and 2) you described some of the most triggering images in your post. As someone with this phobia, reading your post made me incredibly anxious. I’d never have been able to sit down and write all that out and you seem to relish in describing these images.
