Thoughts on the name Angelina?

Adelina Zoe, Adelina Cecilia, or Adelina Faith. I like it. Honestly, all the names on your list work as middle names.

Adelina Harriet
Adelina Catalina (I like Catalina Adelina better)
Adelina Eleanor (Aliteration)
Adelina Vivian (Very clean and formal)

Angelina always struck me as a name that people who think they are being fancy use.

But with Evangelina, you'd be open to Evie

Angelina and Catalina are dreadful names!!!! They certainly aren’t “classic”. And, dear God, no more Ella’s, Eleanor’s, Ellie’s!

Cecelia is gorgeous. Classic, beautiful, not trendy, and as old as time.

Yeah, OP needs to try again. All of these names scream sheltered private school kid of WASPs and RWNJs.

I actually know a person who gave themselves this name as a “nickname” (real name Angela/Angie) and it was so painfully obvious she was just trying to fancy up her real name. It made me feel sorry for her.

All of these names except Zoe are horrible. But I could totally see an Angelina at private school if that's what you're going for OP.

OP, I think Lina on its own is totally fine. Angelina is not good. I’d just name her Lina.

I would go with Adelina or Alina and shorten it to Lina. Cecilia is beautiful but it might be hard for a four-year-old to spell with the ili.

No, not to me. Angelina and Catalina sound very trailer park teen mom to me

I certainly would not eliminate any name based on what a 4 yr old can spell! Even if true, it’s such a temporary issue!!!

It's also kinda serious for such a little girl. I think of secretaries named Cecilia/Cecila/Ceila, not a preschooler.

Oh, I like Angeline! I was going to +1 the previous suggestion of Evangeline, which I like a lot, but Angeline sounds really fresh.

I feel like the wannabe fancy names are more like

Zoe
Chloe
Eliza
-- Z -- anything else
ugly British grandma names I never heard except Eng Lit class

Here are some of the other names on our list:

Cecilia
Harriet (Hattie for short, or maybe just Hattie)
Catalina
Eleanor (Ella for short maybe?)
Zoe or Zoey (DH's favorite name on the list)
Vivian

As you can see I like longer more classical names with shorter nicknames.

No to Eleanor. Too many Ellies Ellas. Everyone will think Angelina Jolie so for that reason no to that name. Harriet is too old, vivian also too trendy. The others are ok. I like Zoe (no y) the best.

Wrong. Angelina Jolie is already fading from the spotlight. That you don’t realize this shows your age. She was the hot girl 20 years ago. People in your child’s generation won’t make the association any more than a baby named Vivian is linked to Vivian Leigh.

(That said, I do like Angelica better.)

No one OP's daughter's age is going to give much thought to an actress nearly 50 years older than them.
