Thoughts on the name Angelina?

We are considering Angelina for our baby. She is our first and we her middle name will most likely be Rosalind, though that's up for debate. She will go by the nickname Lina.

Here are some of the other names on our list:

Cecilia
Harriet (Hattie for short, or maybe just Hattie)
Catalina
Eleanor (Ella for short maybe?)
Zoe or Zoey (DH's favorite name on the list)
Vivian

As you can see I like longer more classical names with shorter nicknames.

No to Eleanor. Too many Ellies Ellas. Everyone will think Angelina Jolie so for that reason no to that name. Harriet is too old, vivian also too trendy. The others are ok. I like Zoe (no y) the best.

Angelina Ballerina came to mind first and then Bob Dylan’s Farewell Angelina.

I like Cecilia better. Or just Celia.

(OP here) I agree with you about Vivian but I feel like Angelina Jolie's popularity is wavering enough that people wouldn't notice every time they hear her name. The first time I heard it I thought Angelina Ballerina.

I don’t love it. It sounds like a name a little girl gives herself it one if her dolls when she’s going through a super frilly, girly stage. Also, sometimes people get nicknames elsewhere that aren’t what you choose, and I’d want to avoid her being called Angie, which I really don’t like.

I do like Lina though. I’d look for a longer name that could be shortened the same way. Catalina, Carolina, Evangeline.

I agree, I'd want to avoid Angie. I went to school with an Angelina and everyone assumed she went by Angie. That being said, maybe if she has an already established nickname, people will just continue with that and call her Lina.

Eleanor/Ella is spent, OP. Every other baby is a variation of Ella or Sophia.

Cecelia is your best bet. A beautiful classic name with great nicknames like Lia or Cecelia.

Angelina Jolie will be relevant for another 20 years. She's only 46.
I knew someone who named her kid Angelina around the same time as Angie's oldest, Maddox. Nobody really care.
