So, I actually tried Choongman's fried chicken today.
Similar to BonChon but I'm not a fan of wet chicken but it is crispy. I prefer if the sauce is on the side. |
I love Roy Rogers! By far my favorite, although Royal Farms is pretty good too. Never understood the Popeye's love - every time I've tried it, it's been on the spectrum from tastes weird to truly inedible. And it's not always the same restaurant, this spans multiple states. I admit, after the last visit a few years ago, when the chicken was bad and the sides were actually rancid, I've given up completely. |
Central’s unjustly famous chicken dish is tasty enough, but it’s not real fried chicken. It’s like the world’s most expensive chicken nuggets. If it is boneless, it cannot properly be called fried chicken. If it has panko as breading, it is also disqualified (though I’ll allow panko for fried fish). |
| Korean fried chicken - Bonchon, Choongman, etc. (but not Momo Bethesda) |
If you haven't tried KoChix it is better than both (but get it delivered, it's kind of seedy) |
| Chi Mc Annandale is always great |
| Mama J's Kitchen in Richmond, VA |
Too bad they closed, their baked chicken was crack on a bone. |

Same. 3. Popeye's (only for the Classic Chicken sandwich) |
Try the sandwich. It is good. Everything else, not so much. |
I have never been but I've heard it is quite good. It was written up in WaPo recently. Very strong review. |

Roaming Rooster
Momo Chik-fil-a Don’t have a go-to place for non fast-food fried chicken (which can/should be much better than all of the above. |
