WWYD?

I would bring the traditional green bean casserole and a very simple salad— just greens and a light homemade vinaigrette. That way the traditionalists are happy, and the folks who want a simpler, ‘cleaner’ veggie have an option, too.

I love green bean casserole, and not the upscale versions. But if I were asked to bring a veggie, I would bring something else. Or like the pp said, green bean casserole plus a healthier veggie dish.

We start with frozen cranberry salad (it’s almost like a sorbet), then
Turkey and giblet gravy
Bread stuffing
Ground veal and sausage “stuffing” with pine nuts and golden raisins
Mashed potatoes
Carrot soufflé
Green beans
Cranberry apple crisp
Rolls

Pie for dessert

I know that some of these ingredients may sound off, but I promise that they work together and everyone who tries this loves it! The whip cream is the star of the recipe. The recipe has been in my family for years.

Frozen Cranberry Salad
Mix together:
6 oz cream cheese (3/4 of a brick - low fat works fine)
2 T mayo (light is fine)
2 T sugar

Add:
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. crushed pineapple
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce

Blend until mixed.

Finally, prepare one package of dream whip according to directions and fold into the cranberry mixture (you can also use 2 cups thawed cool whip). Pour into loaf pan, cover with foil and freeze. Remove from freezer 10-15 minutes before serving, and slice.

This sounds interesting and refreshing. Can you share the recipe?

turkey
corn bread stufffing
mashed potatoes
green beans
carrots
glazed sweet potatoes
macaroni and cheese
rolls
maybe a kale and apple salad
one pie, one cake

if we were hosting extended family there would be a few more side dishes but that would cause too much waste with just the three of us

Turkey - brined & butterflied
Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes, half covered with marshmallows and half covered with pecan streusel
Gravy
Dressing
Steamed green beans
Cranberry sauce
"Thanksgiving slaw" with cabbage, apples, pomegranate seeds, celery
Rolls - haven't decided yet if we'll make homemade or buy a package of Martin's

Pumpkin pie
Apple pie
Pecan pie
Homemade whipped cream
Vanilla ice cream
Assorted chocolates

Wine
Sparkling cider for the kids

What kind of dressing for the slaw? I’ve been looking for a cool, crisp, fresh recipe like this!
