| Don't have a specific recommendation for a major but may have some helpful perspective- My DS also hated math in high school. Did well enough, but really didn't like it. His major required two semesters of math including calc, BUT his earlier course work made DS understand WHY it was necessary for his degree. Still didn't like it, but got through it with Bs. |
| Communications? When I was considering changing fields to be a technical writer, most of the jobs I looked at wanted a communications degree. |
| You can get through Social Work with minimal math. I had to do a basic algebra course and the "baby stats" course a PP mentioned (it was my only college C, but damnit I did it). |
| I just looked at UIUC where my older child is attending. Psychology majors just require intro to Statistics which fulfills 1 of the two required Quatitative Reasoning GenEd courses. There are a huge number of courses that can count toward this requirement and it most certainly doesn't have to be calculus. |
You’re so welcome! Best of luck to your son. |
| I took one math class as a poly sci major. It most definitely was not calculus since I never even took pre-calc in HS. I'm sure a lot of the social sciences have easier math classes. |
| College calculus is basically the same as HS calculus, I understand some kids may not be ready for it in HS, but not even in college? |
Seeing as some kids cannot pass high school math, it isn’t hard to believe they would be able to handle calculus. |
