What gift did you give your DD/DS for college graduation?

New car with insurance.
Put their name on the car loan, it helped them establish great credit.

We did this for for all 3 of our kids. We are not rich, just planned well.

I am sure that whatever you give will be appreciated!

We plan something similar:
-debt free college
-dinner or party
-car and computer
-probably will take her on a trip somwhere.

She's worked hard and has earned it (so far, at least).

An old hand-me down car we bought from my cousin (2010 volvo, but in good condition), $500 target gift card for new apartment. Nice dinner for him and GF who graduated same time.

Has to pay off own college debt and pay for own apartment. He is happy with the car.

One free dinner a week for her + BF for a year on her credit card
Paid for cell phone until we retire

Spoiled much ?

Who does this?

I can more than afford this and yes I’m judging.

Agree, this is surprising. I'm envisioning an older set of parents and an only child. Spoiled, undoubtedly.

Agreed. I too could afford this, but I think if you give this to your child, they will truly not understand the financial realities of 99% of her fellow Americans.

I thought the other poster had given too much. I guess Some folks here have too much money and spoiled kids.

I read this one as a joke in response to the previous "spoiled" post - which I don't think was a joke.

Thank you! My attitude is YOLOBRO! We would rather see our child enjoy life now than have to wait until she is 50 and we leave her millions when we die.DH + I grew up dirt poor. Rich now. Went to crappy state u. + crappy law school for me + crappy mba for DH. Kid went to best privates + HYP. Earns $300k at age 28. American Dream!

Dinner, a small family party, and a heartfelt letter telling her how proud we were of her accomplishments.
During college, we paid almost all of tuition/room/board and sent her on a spring break trip to London. That seems more than generous.
