| Labtop for law school. And application fees/LSAT fee too. |
| No student loans, a new Tesla, a trip to Europe with $10K budget to spend and now we hope DC will find a job and move out but it's been over a year since graduation. |
Np. Pp you sound jealous! Not your kid, not your money do you shouldn't judge! |
I thought the other poster had given too much. I guess Some folks here have too much money and spoiled kids. |

College graduation? We gave the following for HS graduation from a magnet public school -
- Brand new car with all kinds of safety features because kid was a new driver - Apple laptop, new cell phone, college gear, paid for everything but the tuition. Kid got full tuition merit aid. - Shared the following with them - Amazon, Macys, Target, Kohls, Starbucks, Uber app/password. - New credit card, started a brokerage account with 10K - Graduation party and lots of dinners and celebrations - Shopping spree for clothes The child does not misuse any funds. We have not spent a lot of money on our kids for schooling or childcare etc. They have been generally easy, laid back, high achieving and self driven. No bad habits. Very hard working. We are also a donut hole family. We intention is to also pay for their wedding, down payment for home, future education, plus 100K seed money - though they will not want that from us. |
| 4 years of tuition, room, and board for college. I also took him out to a nice dinner. |
I know. Ewwwww. It's fine to be able to give expensive gifts to your child but do weird to come on DCUM to brag about it? Why do you do that? |
| My parents gave me the security deposit and first months rent for my first apartment (actually it was a shared house). Was so thankful! |

We are getting DS a TAG watch. With his college seal on the face. He was going to buy one for himself over winter break but we told him he may want to wait until May, so he knows he’s getting a watch.
After his freshman year we bought a new car - he and his younger brother were working and we needed an extra vehicle so everyone could get to work. We’ve told him he has to pay us some money for it when he graduates if he wants to keep it. But DH and I are pretty sure we’re just going to give it to him. |

For graduation we bought her the furniture, kitchen supplies, linens for her first apartment in NYC (tiny) for her first job.
She graduated from college debt free. |
| OP here: thanks for all the replies so far! Keep them coming! College graduation gift ideas only, please. |
| Giving a graduating senior without an accepted job offer a Tesla is insanely stupid. What if they receive and accept an offer in an urban setting like Manhattan…..how’s that going to work out for you? |
