Concerned that 6yo is wetting his bed and hiding it

Is he peeling more during the day too? Bed wetting can be a sign of diabetes.

Appreciate the reassurance everyone. I'd thought this would be more of a concern, but it sounds like the concensus is that I'm worrying too much and this might be more typical for DS's age.

Quick question for everyone, but would this be something to mention to DS's pediatrician in the future?

My kids have been through this. Any pediatrician is going to tell you it’s nothing to be concerned about until he hits puberty. Not much you can do about it except have him try the potty right before bed and if he’s still having accidents go back to diapers at night.

I think this is true for kids who wet the bed regularly over time. But if a kid wasn’t doing it, and then starts wetting again, there might be an easily addressed medical cause like constipation or allergies causing interrupted sleep. Given that, I would mention it to the pediatrician.

I’d check in on the “sensitive kid” part. Sure, we all have different temperaments and tolerances. That said, has your child heard you being critical (maybe not of him but someone else)? Is your kid anxious? Something contributed to his belief that he’d be punished—and it’s possible that it’s just talking with peers. The bedwetting isn’t unheard of, but it’s worth getting on top of any sign of anxiousness early.
