U.S. Soccer Is Offering The Same Contracts For Its Men's And Women's Teams

Nearly all sports rely on big money makers like football and basketball. Why can't they just make a contracts with % based on revenue earned? Are you doing to force the globe to watch and buy products supporting women's sports? Men make more revenue. How is this hard?

No, they don’t USSF uses the women to subsidize the men and MLS. USWNT could get a much better tv deal if they weren’t bundled with MLS and their putrid ratings. Nike would stick with them (even if off years, how many women’s national team jerseys do you see and have you ever seen a men’s jersey in the wild). USSF does nothing for girls soccer, so that would be a wash. The men will get a nice bump this year, but they’ll loose every game in group play and then people will continue forgetting they exist until
They do the same in four years

LOL... you saying if the women had they own TV deal, ratings would be through the roof? GTFOH

It would crystallize the argument however. Let them both stand on their own two feet, negotiate their own deals and see who gets the greater revenues, sponsorships and compensation.

Indeed. This way there would be no-one subsidizing anyone else. If the women are correct and they are truly worth more, then they would get it. If it turned out that they were not worth more then they wouldn't.

I rather suspect that they'd end up with very much the same as what they are currently getting - but I might well be wrong.

This about being woke? I saw the SI cover how essentially the editors were telling you "you're wrong" for not like WNBA. Now, you are wrong for not supporting women's soccer like the men's. I'm a man. I watch men. If women's sports can't compete, no one cares they go undefeated for 100 years... if you're not entertained, there's no audience. Stop forcing it down everyone's throat.

It's because they're not as good at the sport. This makes them less entertaining to watch.

There is a slight twist here in the US because our women are relatively (compared to other nations) better at the sport than our men, and people like watching winners.

WNT overall compensation from USSF is higher than MNT overall compensation from USSF (not including pro contracts). The USWNT performs better than USMNT. Unclear how much revenue M and W teams generate for USSF?

has anyone ever seen a USMNT jersey in the wild?

Yes see them a lot. The younger players Pulisic, Reyna, Mckennie, etc sell a lot of shirts. Though the real sales are from the club jerseys.

The publicity has gotten FIFA to say they will increase the payouts for the women.

The reality is the women have little options, and US Soccer could pay the women even less. Other options for women are golf tennis and WNBA.
For men they have to compete to get athletes away from NBA, MLB, NHL, golf, tennis and of course NFL. Athletes can't just go across sports, but getting the attention in high school matters.

US Soccer already offered women the same deal as the men and they turned it down. The judge said as much in court.

Jokes on you when mens sports and men in general will be brought into line by the Harris Administration. Hold onto your red ball caps, MAGAts. You think your life sucks now, just wait till things are finally fixed for once and for all!

Yes this is top of her list!

So the men have not had a deal in place since 2018. The USSF said to the women’s side - “take a deal the men rejected”, and you think that’s somehow “progressive”? Weird.

Men and women should play. Start with 100% and the number of goals you score over your opponent equals your % you get, the remainder other side.

Oh... sounds dumb? I thought this was about equal pay for equal work... but it's not. It's about whining and wokeness. #fail

Or - how about no money can go from USSF to MLS/SUM. Just make it a basic rule.

Now - it does not resolve the past history issues but it is a good start moving forward.

It does not happen now but okay keep saying things that are not true. If you look at history the women’s has always drawn less be the men’s except for the past cycle.
