Best place to buy appliances

Anonymous
Where is the best place to buy appliances in northern virginia? One of the items we are buying is a 48" range so we need a place that sells those. We have been to appliance distributors unlimited and ferguson. Any others you would recommend? Thanks!

Try Bray and Scarff - they sell numerous, very high end models. Not sure if it is THE best place to buy, but it does offer a large variety of brands.

We bought something from Bray and Scarff recently, and wish we'd gone with Home Depot, honestly. Ended up costing us more, and we still haven't received a rebate we were supposed to get for "free delivery".. ugh, not going there again. Was trying to buy local, alas.

Bray and Scarff is a ripoff. Try ajmadison http://www.ajmadison.com/

Appliance Distributors Unlimited in Chantilly helped me select great appliances at a great price for a kitchen remodel in 2012. I had an excellent salesperson (Joe); if he is still there all the more reason to recommend ADU.

We are going through ADU now. Checked Bray and Scarff, which was consistently 20% higher. Except for the Wolf cooktop which seems to be the same price everywhere.

If you're looking for a Wolf, check out Fretz, their main showroom in Columbia Maryland. Sometimes they are selling one with a small scratch etc at a good discount. Ferguson's also does this, just look for the notices on top of appliances.

Try ABW (appliance builder wholesaler). They have a nice showroom on Brookeville Road, an outlet out toward Rockville and a VA location too. http://abwappliances.com/showroom/

I tried Bray Scarff and I was really turned off by their sales people. And several people I know had horrible warranty experiences.

I would use only home depot, best buy, lowes or sears. When you order from anywhere online like aj its a pain in the ass if you don't like it and it's not broken. I had to ship back on my own, pay a restock fee and lose credit card fees. Never again will I buy appliances online. When I had a design problem with my fridge from bestbuy they took it back for few with full refund no questions asked.

We also had a great experience with ADU in Chantilly and Joe. Unfortunately, he left to go work with Miele. But Daniel at ADU has been helpful to us since Joe left. It's a night and day experience to shop at ADU vs Home Depot or Lowes. The ADU people actually know something about appliances. And agree with the PP not to buy over the Internet. We've had an issue with one of our new appliances and it's been so much easier to resolve since we bought locally.

+1 (we also went to ABW after a bad sales experience with Bray and Scarff).

*raises hand* We had them redo our kitchen and bought all our appliances from them too. That was a great experiences.

Fast forward about 5 years and we started having problems with our fridge running hot for no reason. We went back and forth and had numerous visits from them for months. My favorite was the guy who swore our refrigerator cabinet had been designed wrong and that our fridge needed to be pulled out a 1/2 inch... but refused to do it. Finally our warranty expired and they basically told us to go fuck ourselves. We got an appliance repair tech out here who diagnosed a bad evaporator fan in about 20 minutes. Two days later, the part was in and our fridge was working good as new.

On the other hand, we bought a washer and dryer from Home Depot about 4 years ago. Any time I've had to get warranty service, they fit you in within a week, the techs are professional and knowledgeable and the experience is always hassle free.

tl;dr Save yourself the headache and high blood pressure and buy from Home Depot.
