Publics in other areas of the country were a better fit, offered better opportunities ~ for mine.
Benefited from knowing this early on - less stress, better admission results.

There is some blessing in learning early that your (my) kids won't get into a top 2 Va college. Opens a lot of other opportunities.

I agree. The only downside is the additional hit to the pocketbook.
