Political Discussion
Please post a video of the game so others can evaluate the allegations of roughness (a mike may or may not have picked up verbal comments). Otherwise, there's no proof here, just allegations against a team composed primarily of minority students. |
| Children will stereotype and repeat things they’ve heard other children say. They all develop differently and learn social skills a varying paces. Holding children to the same expectations as adults seems unfair. How will they learn? What if they make mistakes and are labeled racists or bigots? |
We counting the Jewish GA teacher that threatened last month (among criminal, terriristic acts towards her and others) to behead a Palestinian student or nah? |
are you trying to say that the harassment at the game was the Jews' own fault? Just like 10/7? |
“Free Palestine” is not a slur. The fact that you think so is a show of Zionist fragility. Because Palestine is not free, it’s occupied and that is a fact. Even if it hurts your feelings. |
But PP's feelings are all that matter! Those of other people matter not one bit, whether they are political prisoners in Israel, people being starved and bombed in Gaza, or those who simply don't want their tax dollars funding Israeli war crimes. |
No, not at all. I am curious because I have heard my child make off color remarks about all different types of people, my child is a tween though and neurodiverse. But I worry about her offending people as well as her safety. She has no filter. Does anyone else have this experience with their kids? Or just me? |
You’re not alone. There is a lot of development and maturity that comes along from early teens to young adulthood. |
I am sure there is an increase in antisemitism. The behavior at the basketball game is horrible, especially roughing up other players. "Free Palestine" is not antisemitic (one can be sympathetic to Palestinians' political aspirations without having any animosity toward Jews), but the other statement you mention is repugnant. Nobody should say that, and I hope the players will be disciplined. |
How should they be disciplined in order to leave an impact? How do we teach kids that this isn’t acceptable? Some kids really aren’t able to understand why some things just can’t be said. Children are all over the place developmentally, what punishment would really teach them? |
dp. per the NY Post, the coach was "canned" and a player "booted off" the team. apology issued. kinda, sorta, maybe, sorta indicates that the the horrifying statements happened. |
"Free Palestine" from what? Hamas? |
Gaza sure was not occupied. Hamas drove it into hell. |
What about Whataboutism? |
