DC just turned 3 and started the perk language class in MC. I can see improvement but I also see how her peers are moving really fast. I'm considering adding some private ST. Any suggestions in Rockville/Bethesda/kensington/SS?
I looked at TLC and was wondering if there's anyone with experience there? |
| National speech. Bonus is they take insurance. |
| We loved Lynne Gans in Rockville. Used her for two kids. She will come to your child's preschool. |

Thanks for the info.
I'm also interested in knowing what others in either prek language or PEP have done about afternoon care? DH and I both work full time. I'm considering switching DC or exploring other options as her current prek is too far from the elementary school. Thanks! |
Just googled her but can't find her. Do you have a website for her? |
A MCPS will take your child to and from the SN preschool from home/ daycare or another preschool. I guess you have to decide if it is too far for your child to travel on the bus. |
| I used SLP at RSI in Silver Spring. I think she did a good job. Jamie Fine. She works at CNMC to. |
| Nicole Felt at ITSin Kensington is AWESOME!!! Highly recommend. Fun, kind, challenging and smart. |
No website. Her number is 301-424-4086. She has a great personality and was great at communicating with us about what she was working on. |
My child was in the language class. They will provide transportation but it can be a long bus ride depending on the number of stops. |
We used TLC many years ago. We were assigned to an amazing, very experienced therapist but he left within a few months. We were then transfered to another therapist who was very inexperienced and not yet licensed. The fee was the same. This seemed strange. We left. |
DCs current school is in DC, so they won't transport her. I'm looking to change schools, so I'm evaluating my options. I don't know if it's worthwile for her to just go to another school where she will basically have lunch, nap, and maybe play for a bit until I pick her up. Or going the part time nany route is a better alternative. DH thinks she needs to be around other kids most of the time. That's why I was curious to see what others have done. |
Thanks, I called TLC and it seemed a bit disorganized. The contact info on the website is wrong and the person has since left but they haven't changed it. I also talked to a ST at national Speech, they seemed to be better organized and more responsive than TLC. I also contacted Pediatric development center, but they wanted me to have my child skip one of her morning prek language classes to go there, since they don't have any other availability....nope. When I called my insurance company to inquiry about out of network benefits, they said they needed a code and reimbursemnet varies depending on the code. ANyone knows more about this? Thank |
| CITG in Bethesda has been wonderful for us. |
| Ask the staff wherever you go what the code is. (BTW, I think you're much better off at National Speech than TLC.) |
