I'm genuinely confused: Why would you expect schools to be closed or delayed?

I'm not the PP, but I generally do not expect reasonable reactions on the weather front. This winter storm has been hyped for a week and so I am frankly surprised that they didn't go for overreaction like the last two times.

It's above freezing all day, freezing tonight. Tomorrow is more likely.

We're not in NYC. This hasn't been hyped for a week. On the radio last night they were saying 40 degrees and rain. There was never a chance of school closures in this area.

I don't know about you, but last week, everyone at my office was talking about the "big snowstorm" that was supposed to hit this weekend. Speculation was that the feds would close, which meant we'd get a 3 day weekend. There have been multiple threads on this board querying whether schools will be open, delayed or closed completely. Seems like hype to me, though I agree that it's ridiculous.

And for what it's worth, it's snowing in Columbia Heights. Not sticking, but I'm watching pretty white flakes drifting around in the silhouette of a streetlight.

While I'm not shocked that a bunch of lazy Feds were eager for a snow day, a few wishful conversations around the water cooler does not "hype" make.
