no delay or closing called yet?

I'm genuinely confused: Why would you expect schools to be closed or delayed?

I'm not the PP, but I generally do not expect reasonable reactions on the weather front. This winter storm has been hyped for a week and so I am frankly surprised that they didn't go for overreaction like the last two times.

We're not in NYC. This hasn't been hyped for a week. On the radio last night they were saying 40 degrees and rain. There was never a chance of school closures in this area.

I don't know about you, but last week, everyone at my office was talking about the "big snowstorm" that was supposed to hit this weekend. Speculation was that the feds would close, which meant we'd get a 3 day weekend. There have been multiple threads on this board querying whether schools will be open, delayed or closed completely. Seems like hype to me, though I agree that it's ridiculous.

And for what it's worth, it's snowing in Columbia Heights. Not sticking, but I'm watching pretty white flakes drifting around in the silhouette of a streetlight.

While I'm not shocked that a bunch of lazy Feds were eager for a snow day, a few wishful conversations around the water cooler does not "hype" make.

"Unscheduled leave" is not a snow day. It means you can take PTO without notice if you live in some far-flung region that is actually getting real snow.

How is that relevant to whether DCPS schools close?

Not PP but we are DCPS a and live 3 blocks from SS line, as do a few hundred other Shepherd or Takoma Park students.

Yeah, that was a pretty ignorant question.

Because many students at Takoma, Coolidge, and Whittier actually live in Maryland : )

Umm not true. If they did they would live in PG County.

Started snowing in Brookland at 7:45 but no reason to close or delay.

Flakes falling from the sky is not a reason to close or delay schools. Slippery, dangerous conditions on the roads are. The roads are wet, but there's nothing dangerous going on.

Hahahaha good one op!! In what world & for what reason would school be delayed or closed today? Do you follow the forecasts that change pretty much hourly as new models run or are you basing it on what people were talking about last week? There is nothing on the ground & it's above freezing (in case you haven't been out yet),

Look, I'm a federal contractor and I know a LOT of Feds. But the only people whining about not getting a snow day on my FB feed are school teachers who wanted schools to be closed today. My Fed friends are not complaining about going to work today (although many have taken advantage of optional telework and are working from home).

Umm not true. We had MOCO families at our charter. We also had one or two VA resident at the charter when it was new and not a DCUM favorite. Such kids are still there and keep their spots although the school is currently HOT.

Did you just wake up from 1995? Fed bashing? How boring - try and come up with something original.
