Wow first the letter, now this. UMD is going overboard for recruiting this year.

Happy for the kids, but cheesy PR by the admissions staff. This is a huge school and you pick 5-6 to visit in person? Everyone else just gets to deal with the giant bureaucracy at CP.

+1. I have no problem with UMD, but I think it's classier when schools deal with admitted students the same way.

Huh? It's just PR for admission day in the home state of a Big Ten university. "Classy" is often fake and contrived.

Yep, it's a mere PR stunt, but classier schools don't pull stunts like that.
