| I've heard alot about taking Coenzyme Q10 to help with infertility. Has anyone taken this? Are there any negetive side effects from taking this supplement? |
|
It's part of the 'CCRM' cocktail. My RE did not suggest anything other than prenatals and folic acid, but I have been taking 300 mg of ubiquinol daily (the 'active' form of CoQ10) for the past weeks.
From what I have read, some women say it helps and the others don't seem to see a difference. I have not had any side effects, but reactions may vary. I take all supplements 8 hours apart from my daily Synthroid. |
| so COQ10 is different from Ubiquinol? |
| I started with 300 mg and got a bad rash and experienced insomnia. I wish I'd started with a lower dose (in the morning) and worked my way up. Now I'm scared off the stuff. |
| I was taking it when I got pg with ds. I was nearly 41 at the time. Can't be sure if it helped, of course, but I had no side effects anyway. |
| I took ubiquinol 2-3 times a day between my first failed ivf and my second successful one. |
| I was 39 and diagnosed with DOR, and took 300mg of ubiquinol daily for about 8 months before my IVF. I got pregnant with twins on the first try. I do think (and my RE agreed) that it might help with egg quality. |

I am the original poster. I already have the embryos from a previous cycle, so I dont necessarily need help in that area. However, I do need help with implantation.
also, i bought CoQ10, should i have purchased ubiquinol instead? |
What I have read is that ubiquinol is the metabolically active form of CoQ10 so it is more readily absorbed. I don't know how much of a difference this makes. I got the Jarrows ubiquinol from Amazon. I would be interested in hearing others opinions too. |
| My RE told me to take 800mg per day of CoQ10 and 75mg of DHEA, I'm DOR. I have been taking it for almost 3 months, waiting on AF to see if it makes a difference. I had two failed IVF cycles. My understanding is that it helps with egg quality and in some cases quantity. I had a friend who wasnt successful in her 3 first IVF attempts and took DHEA and coq10 for 6 months and then got 12 eggs and two pregnancies. She is also DOR and her re believes it was all thanks to those supplements. Her previous IVF cycles, she only had 2-4 eggs retrieved. |
You just need to take more CoQ10 than ubiquinol. I think it was 3x as much. |
| If this is about implantation, I would focus on B6 instead. Helps to build the lining of the uterus. |
| My acupuncturist recommended ubiquinol to help my egg quality bec I'm 39. I didn't take it before my first IVF round and only one embryo made it to day 5. I took it before the 2nd round and got 6 day 5 embryos. Of course there's no real evidence but I like to think the supplements helped. I also take fish oil and prenatals. |
For how long did you take it? |

For good lining take Vit E. My Fertility Nutritionist suggested MRM Complete-E because it has a good balance of all the E's.
