How about we all look at the birth months of our kids current rosters and post the number/percentage of kids born in Q3/Q4

I'm quite sure every single ECNL team in the dmv are represented in these 2,000 pages

I’ll start - my DD’s ECNL team has four Q4 starters! Four! That’s gonna be a shake up. I’m wondering where they’re gonna get extra talent from because the team one age group above only has one trapped player. I’m hoping there are good ECNL-RL players hiding somewhere otherwise her team is about to be decimated. And for all the people who say that those starters will just play up — for how long? and why would you continue to play up when it hurts your recruiting chances? Better to start playing with your new team so you can get used to playing with each other before the recruiting years begin.

They don't have play in their age group. If they are that good, then they should continue to player bigger/older players.

There's absolutely no reason for them to go play with the younger team and they won't. They will have no problem getting seen and scouted with the grade above and the club is not going to decimate one of their high-performing teams. That's not the intent of the SY change. If it doesn't benefit the player and the club, no movement will happen. It could, however, help the Q4 players who are not getting much playing time. They'll have an opportunity to play with the younger team and remain ECNL.

They will move players. It is broader than the club's or coaches' decisions.

Who is they?

I have no problem streamlining school grades and age groups. But all this moaning and wailing over their 'trapped players' is so annoying. Your kid just isn't as good as you want. Get over it. There will always be bigger, older, stronger, and more talented kids even playing down a year next year. My friend's daughter falls in this group of fall birthdays and yet is playing two ages up. Obviously her fall birthday is not trapping her anywhere.

If your kid not playing enough go to a different leveled team and stop blaming it on their birthday and accept it's their skills are not as great as other players.

I skipped all the pages since no announcement Friday. Did US Soccer share the big secret yet?

Blah blah blah, the only players that will be allowed to play up are the ones in the recruiting age. No exceptions for the younger, stop stealing someone else’s spot, clubs have already realized this fact affects their numbers ($).

Some semi creditable info saying Aug1 and phased implementation across leagues as they are ready.

Wish they would announce when they will report... regardless of what they say...

Great work everyone. We're getting close to 300. The Taylor Swift sidebar really helped too.

All those words, but you don't understand what a trapped player is. Yes the player playing 2 age groups up is trapped with a fall birthday in the current system (8th/12th grade)

Note that in swimming kids get 5-10% faster/better every year. So in soccer expect q3-4 to be about 5-10% better and q1-2 to to be about 5-10% worse in their respective age brackets.

If my Q4 daughter is 10% faster than her new teammates and they are 10% slower than her old teammates then this is about to get very fun next season.

Track and Field or Soccer??

Great question.
People fail to grasp that we measure brain speed in football not footspeed.

Yep
You can tell real soccer people.

They know its about speed of play driven by speed of observation then speed of decision and speed of execution.

The majority thinks its size and 40 yard dash speeds

I am not sure I have ever agreed with a post more than this one.

Trapped means the (good) kid is an 8th grader forced to play with high schoolers due to be Q4. Different school schedules.

Also means they will be a junior playing with seniors and so when they become seniors, their team is gone and they have to merge with group below which leads to these enormous teams in terms of roster size.

Likely there is nothing to report as nothing is changing? All the hype on here is what suggested there was a big decision and change coming…but clearly not the case.

We received confirmation in Michigan. No change for the upcoming year, may be revisited for next year.

It means that instead of ending but with two teams (U18 and U19) each with +20 players, clubs end up with a combined U18/U19 team result of all cuts they “the clubs” did when kids were in 8th grade. They realized that they cut one full age team when they went from SY to BY and that’s not business.

Or the goal posts have moved because everyone wants immediate answers. The narrative has always been announcement by the end of the year.
