What boots with skinny jeans?

Anonymous
I'm new to the skinny jeans thing - late to the party, I know. What's the current trend for footwear with them? (Not too trendy - clearly I'm out of touch). No ballet flats - I am wider in the hips and need a boot to be able to pull off the look of the jeans. How high should the boot be, I guess is my major concern. Is up the the knee my best bet to balance my hips?

If you're big, boots will make that worse.

I'm not huge, just curvy. I have small ankles and calves, then widen, so I'm a big triangle from hip to ankle in skinny jeans or leggings. With a boot it widens my lower leg and balances me out. This is why I usually just wear boot cut jeans.

Personally I think ankle boots look better than tall boots. It keeps the long, slender line of the skinny jeans intact; tall boots seem to visually chop the legs in half and make them look chunky.

I love Rachel Comey Mars boots.

Very simple right below the knee boots-to keep the flow.

I'm built like you, and I wear flats (Converse, TOMs, ballet flats, etc.), ankle boots, and mid-calf boots with skinny jeans.

It's comfortable and cute and looks much neater than bootcut jeans (on me)--no dragging on the ground, etc. So I wouldn't assume you can't pull it off.

Booties.

Honestly? Wear what's comfortable. Booties with a 3" heel would probably look great, but isn't what I wear (at least not day to day) b/c I can't walk very far or fast in heels.

A more casual boot that comes up a bit past your ankle works better than I thought it would. Can cuff the jeans and show a sliver of fun socks, if that's your thing. Or tuck the jeans into the boots. Harness boots, motorcycle boots, desert boots, whatever suits your style.

I am still a fan of riding-style boots. Dark rinse with a dark leather is more leg-lengthening.

On warmer days I will wear Chucks, loafers or flats. But has to be warm enough for bare ankles.

don't wear uggs. classic riding boots usually look good on most.

All ankle boots do is accentuate your large hips. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. To the previous poster who wears mid-calf boots - YIKES.

Uggs make many different styles of beautiful boots. Check out their website

Seriously. Don't you know that what you should really do is just chop the lower half of your body off with an axe?

But back to the question: I am built like you, and find that ankle booties that come to just below your ankle bone, with some heel, will work.

Knee high boots can be ok, but I don't think they are the most flattering.
