Newbie on the private school market, and for planning purposes I'm just wondering when you pay tuition. Everything up front? Semester by semester? It would be useful to get a sense of the general practice.
Thanks! |
| 60/40 split - june/january |
| We did the 60/40 split when it was just one child. Now with 3, we pay monthly over the course of 10 months with automatic payments through the services the schools use. One school has it from May-Feb, the other goes July-April. |
| Monthy, through FACTS. |
| We also pay monthly on the 10-month plan (2 kids). Sucks, because there's a significant discount if you pay up front and early, but we simply don't have tens of thousands in cash available every February to hand over to them. |
| We're a 10-pay as well. No discount for early payment. |
| You do have to send a deposit with the signed contract about one or two weeks (don't remember exactly) after your child is accepted in March. |
|
Every school as different timing. Typically they offer 3 options - 10 payment (starts earliest - april??), 60/40 (or 70/30 or something similar), or one lump sum which sometimes comes with a teeny tiny discount.
|
| 10% in Jan/Feb with contract, 90% in June. |
| We pay twice a year, July and December, 50/50. |
| 10% deposit, then the balance in June. |
|
We're also 10 pay through FACTS.
One thing I did not anticipate was payments for DC's private school starting in June (maybe it was July?). At any rate, there were 2-3 months when we were paying both daycare and private school tuition. |
| We did the 10 month pay as well. I think one school started in April and one in May. Now that DCs are in college we've switched to semesters. |
| you can choose. we are on an 11 month plan thru FACTS. Some have 12 month plans. |
| 10 month plan with FACTS here, too. |
