DD's mattress from Ikea smells

Anonymous
We bought a mattress for DD and it smells bad. Any ideas to air it out and make it less smelly?

Which model did you buy? We are thinking of getting one, and I'd like to avoid a smelly one...

Does it have a washable cover like the crib mattresses?

They meet higher environmental standards than other non-organic mattresses sold in the US.

What standards do they meet?

Just because a mattress is organic does not mean it is non-toxic. This article outlines how to determine whether a mattress is organic and whether it is really non-toxic. This article is about crib mattresses, but most of the information also pertains to child or adult mattresses.

Foam mattresses off gas and smell very very bad. We had temperepedic pillow that would it get rid of smell. Google temperepedic odor and you will see common issue with this type mattress.

This!! We bought ours months ago and it still smells to me. I off-gassed it for several days when we first bought it - didn't help. We've had it for several months now. I want to return it bc I am concerned about the safety of this material and my husband thinks I'm overreactiing.
