2028 Girls Lacrosse

Very stressful time for everyone and Capital picked the ones that showed the best potential and skills at their positions. Highly doubt SSSAS was even a factor since it does not look as if they even had anyone make blue from what we have seen so far and maybe a few on Orange.

Pride was already top 10, now with the new goalie and most of the other pickups, they'll be highly competitive. The Orange team, however, are full of a few remaining pride girls and a number of SSSA girls (who you could argue ONLY made the team due to attending SSSA). There were a number of more talented girls who did not get offers.
I would say the Blue team will be fine, the Orange won't break top 80.

Someone a long time ago asked what you needed to do in advance of Capital tryouts to put you on the short list. The answer is clear 1) Play for Pride (Katie...or whoever runs the program now) can't retain talent once they hit HS and 2) attend SSSA where Kathy Jenkins throws her weight around and gets her sub-par SSSA girls offers.

KJ is best coach, hands down, in our area. She will take those SSSAS girls and make them solid players. If Orange has a bunch of them, that’s why. KJ’s coaching ability is a sure thing. Evaluators must have seen sufficient talent and athleticism that KJ can make into solid lacrosse players. Not a bad strategy to make sure there is a dependable core of players with great fundamentals on Orange.

Any explanation why some stars light blue players didn’t make it over stars and navy players?

Happens every year...Navy players making Capital.

Maybe the Stars Navy players used the year to improve and work harder?

The selection process is not perfect. Some very good players did not make either team and are hands down better than some of the players that did. Best way forward is to go with Stars/Pride and prove Capital made a mistake.

Agree. And next year we will see a few girls move from Orange to Blue because they will have the fire and prove it out.

True. Happens every year. Sometimes potential observed at tryouts never pans out. Sometimes girls who were cut from capitol as freshman make it to orange and Blue later. And there are always orange players that move up.

Plenty of girls on "B" teams that are better than girls on "A" teams. Watch the player, not the team

You may want to slow your roll, darkhorse.

This is the 4th or 5th year in a row that Capital has taken the majority of their top team from Pride. What does Pride do for development that the other teams don’t? Seems like the other clubs should be doing better.

Take kids from Great Falls, McLean, Arlington and Vienna. That’s the gist of their development program.

And pay for extra training outside of practice with private lessons, camps, and conditioning.
