I am currently slogging my way through the Goldfinch and All the Light was cannot see....I am exhausted and in need something fun, quick, can't put down to read. Think beach reading but on metro.

The Rosie Project was fun and easy to read. We Were Liars is a fast-paced book. I loved Station Eleven, but that is intense while also being a "can't put it down" book.

I also slogged through The Goldfinch and just started All the Light--is that later as hard to get through as Goldfinch? I was really looking forward to All the Light, but I'm having trouble getting into it and don't really look forward to reading it at night, like I do with most "great" books.

Friendship - Emily Gould
The Vacationers - Emma Straub
The Engagements - J. Courtney Sullivan

I love a good beach (or metro!) read. I'll also throw out a classic on the off chance you haven't read it:
Summer Sisters - Judy Blume

Nonfiction but very enjoyable and generally light--Paris in Love. It's about an American family's year in Paris, and is short snippets about stuff like chocolate, the kids' misadventures in school, and seeing the sights. It was a really fun read.

Anything by Laurie Colwin, but especially "Happy All the Time" and "A Big Storm Knocked It Over."

"The Accidental Tourist" or "Digging to America" by Ann Tyler

If you like mysteries, the Sue Grafton alphabet books are fun light reads. But they are often murder mysteries, but not gory.
