I don't order any fancy coffee drinks usually, just a coffee or coffee with milk. 15% would just be some change, but I always use a credit card and it seems weird to just put down change for a tip.
Lately the coffee place I've been going to has a display on the credit card screen to enter your tip- $1, $2, $5 or other. I hate this thing because I feel compelled to leave at least a buck. But that's almost a 50% tip on my cup of coffee! So what do you tip at your coffee place? |
| Whatever coin change I get back if I pay in cash. Nothing if I pay with a credit card. Coffee shops are not restaurants and cannot pay $2.13. It's a minimum wage job and I don't feel compelled to tip you simply for doing your job. Is there no end to this bourgeois guilt that says you have to tip everyone for every little thing? Sheesh. |
| 0 if i use a credit card, |
Same here. |
|
I do not take anything from the tip jar...even after paying exorbitant amounts for the coffee.
Customers should not help themselves to the tips of the Baristas! |
Nobody takes it. What the heck are you talking about?! |
|
Coffee Baristas make good money. They don't need tips.
Stop the tipping madness. |
| I tip nothing. Getting coffee is their job and unlike waiters, their pay is not predicated on getting tips as well. |
| 0. Maybe my change if I remember. |
|
Nothing.
The coffee is $3 a fucking cup. |
BTW (NP here) I hate when the receipt or screen shows the % of the bill because they calculate based on after tax amount; not pre-tax which is what to calculate tips on. Sorry I know that is an aside but while I was reading your post…: ) |
| I have never tipped for coffee. Would you tip for coffee at McDonalds? No. Then why tip at DD or Starbucks? |
Yeah, I fucking hate when that ipad displays the minimum tip as $1 on a 3.50 coffee drink. Fuck that. |
| Zero. |
Gee PP, why don't you go and have a cup of coffee? Or several. |
