So...ew. I may never eat out again.

So my daughter works at a chain restaurant as a hostess. She's been there for a couple of years.

My whole family got the flu this week. My daughter was the last one to get it, she just started today. She's supposed to work tomorrow night.

So she told her boss, and her boss just told her that working all holidays was required and mandatory and if she didn't work she was fired.

I'm so grossed out...what the heck? How many restaurants tell their flu-ridden, feverish, coughing sneezing staff to work?

Blech... Gross. Do you want my kid handing you your menu and filling your water?

I told my daughter she was NOT working and if she never works there again, whatever.

No wonder the flu is all over the place.

Shouldn't you be more concerned about your sick daughter?

Same thing happened with my friend that works at a freaking pre-school. This country is insane.

I stopped eating at restaurants when I found a hair encrusted in my cheesecake.

He probably thinks she's lying to get out of working on the holiday. She wouldn't be the first. If she showed up with full-blown flu, sweaty, red around the eyes, etc., he'd probably send her home.

Uh, ?????

Is there's something I said that makes it appear as if I'm not? I'm not allowing her to work, as start.

What a bizarre response.

Not necessarily. I worked as a retail assistant manager out of college and one christmas I came down with flu. I didn't/couldn't take a single day off of work and no one cared.

Ok but seriously, she's worked there on holidays for years. All of a sudden after 2 years she's a liar? No I seriously think this lady wants her to work with the flu.

And you work with people and/or food?? Gross. Have some respect.

It isn't unusual for employers who are open on holidays to ban call outs absent a doctor's evaluation and note - police, fire departments, bus drivers, nursing home workers, etc. My wife, who works in health care, just let an employee go this week because of a call off on Christmas eve. Fact is, people do lie about being sick when they don't want to work and most people who celebrate Christmas don't want to work on Christmas eve or day.

Then you are an inconsiderate idiot who is perpetuating the sick work culture in this country.

Unless you are some kind of lifesaving surgeon.
