BIL got my SIX-year-old nephew a rifle for Christmas. Not a BB gun, a hunting rifle

We left to go to the movies when it was obvious they were going to let him shoot targets in my parents yard.

I love my sister, but she married a fucking idiot. He got super patronizing as we left, and I believe told DH not to call Obama on him.

Fucking moron.

Is it a Red Rider Carbine Action 200? He is going to shoot his eye out.

I would be pissed.

HA!

and OP, you'll get no sympathy here because YOU LEFT YOUR KID TO GO TO THE MOVIES when it WAS CLEAR they were going to do target practice? So, your kid gets a real gun, and you leave him with someone else (the, in your words, "f___ moron") to manage him with the gun?

Now I have to know what movie was worth that. Was it Unbroken? Dying to see it. Maybe would have been safer to take your kid, even to that one.

Uh, I think you need to reread my original post.

My NEPHEW got a gun, and my DH and I left WITH our two children to go see Into the Woods.

You blithering idiot, are you drunk or is this post a product of your usual intelligence?
OP left BIL with his own son to shoot in her parents' yard. Not OP's son. OP does not say whether she has children, but if she had I'm sure she would have taken them with her.

It is their kid not yours. Mind your own business. What is the point of bringing this up?

Bc it's a 6 year old with a rifle. A rifle he probably wants to play with. A rifle that could go off accidentally and HURT someone.

But my question is - why are you such an idiot? (To the pp I'm quoting, not the OP)

Giving a deadly weapon to a Kindergartener is fucking ridiculous. The point of my post is that my BIL is a moronic neanderthal who thinks it's funny to give "controversial" gifts to prove a point.

I don't want my children to suffer at the hands of my BILs social Darwinism. What really pissed me off was that he thought it was ok to make comments to my DH when we decided to leave.

I am sure your BIL could sense your inappropriate disapproval.

KILL

I don't know exactly what kind of gun it is, but it a hunting rifle that is designed to kill deer. Therefor it could very easily kill a person.

A RIFLE is not a toy to play with. I'm pretty sure your BIL will be with him when it's used. YOU are just silly mad because YOU disapprove.

IT AIN'T YOUR KID MISS BUSYBODY !!

Are people on this site really so sheltered and parochial that they can not fathom that there is a big wide world out there with lots of parents who raise their children differently than the cocoon of DCUM. Not worse or better, different. OP is trying to be judgemental and holier that thou. And yes, I was perfectly clear on the boy's age.
