Urgent! Does my 1 yo need birth certificate to travel to Mexico or ss card enough?

| We are traveling to California on Saturday and then driving to my parents' beach house in baja Mexico next week. Does my 1 yo need a birth certificate? I only hav a social security card for her. If she needs a birth certificate, I'll need to drive from PA and back to get it tomorrow during office hours before we depart in our flight and would love to avoid that if possible. |

You need to make an appointment at the passport office ASAP and pay the rush fee. We got DS's in the mail 3 days after our visit. That said with gov't closed Thursday and Friday I am not sure if you'll make it in time. Sorry OP.

This was true for Americans for Mexico and Canada until a few years ago. OP is just behind the times. |

| ps piece of advice. Get multiple birth certificates and keep one with you. You never know when you may need it. You n eed it to get a passport. |

| Your child might be allowed INTO Mexico since they often don't check documents of people entering by car but won't be allowed back into the United States without a passport card or passport. |
