| Also, when do those whose kids are in the 2nd grade pool get notified? Thank you! |
| You get the scores and the notification (if it is relevant) in the same mailing. Typically around Jan. 28th. They like to make you wait until the last minute. Usually it is just a few days before the parental referrals are due (for those who aren't automatically "in the pool.") |
| ^^Thanks!^^ |
Is the parental referral just to get the child in the pool? Is it different from the actual AAP application? |
Parent referral is to have the student considered for AAP placement. Students considered for AAP placement come from both (a) the 2nd grade pool and (b) parent referrals. |
| Parent referral in effect puts your child "in the pool." Whether your child sinks or swims will be determined by the lifeguards -- but getting "in the pool" is the first step. |
| Will all second graders' parent get mail or only in pool? |
| Omg. It's Christmas. Relax already for God's sake. Your kid is going to get into college in 10-11 years, whatever happens. It's all fine. Let go for a couple of days, will you? |
When is the AAP level IV application due? Is that different from the referral? |
| When do they test those in the pool? |
+100 And colleges have zero interest in your child's AAP participation. |
all parents get a letter explaining their child's score. Aap has been a good experience for my kid. |
that is the same thing -- it's usually around Feb. 4th --- but you'd have to look on the FCPS website to be sure. It's usually just a few days after the date that they mail the test results to the parents. |
|
There is no "application." There is only a referral. Look on the FCPS website for the exact deadline and what you can submit. As PP noted the referral is due some time the first week in February.
You can submit a referral if you child is "in pool" meaning s/he has scores that are above a cut score determined by FCPS OR if your child has scores below the cut score. If your child has scores above the cut score, s/he will automatically have a packet prepared by the school whether or not you submit a referral. Some parents submit, some don't. If your child has scores below the cut score, the only way to get the school to prepare a packet is for you to do the parent referral. |
| Anyone know when they will mail out the results this year? |
