The Mueller Report

Mueller's report looks bad for Obama

The partisan warfare over the Mueller report will rage, but one thing cannot be denied: Former President Barack Obama looks just plain bad. On his watch, the Russians meddled in our democracy while his administration did nothing about it.

The Mueller report flatly states that Russia began interfering in American democracy in 2014. Over the next couple of years, the effort blossomed into a robust attempt to interfere in our 2016 presidential election. The Obama administration knew this was going on and yet did nothing. In 2016, Obama's National Security Adviser Susan Rice told her staff to "stand down" and "knock it off" as they drew up plans to "strike back" against the Russians, according to an account from Michael Isikoff and David Corn in their book "Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin's War on America and the Election of Donald Trump".

Why did Obama go soft on Russia? My opinion is that it was because he was singularly focused on the nuclear deal with Iran. Obama wanted Putin in the deal, and to stand up to him on election interference would have, in Obama's estimation, upset that negotiation. This turned out to be a disastrous policy decision.
Obama's supporters claim he did stand up to Russia by deploying sanctions after the election to punish them for their actions. But, Obama, according to the Washington Post, "approved a modest package... with economic sanctions so narrowly targeted that even those who helped design them describe their impact as largely symbolic." In other words, a toothless response to a serious incursion.

But don't just take my word for it that Obama failed. Congressman Adam Schiff, who disgraced himself in this process by claiming collusion when Mueller found that none exists, once said that "the Obama administration should have done a lot more." The Washington Post reported that a senior Obama administration official said they "sort of choked" in failing to stop the Russian government's brazen activities. And Obama's ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, said, "The punishment did not fit the crime" about the weak sanctions rolled out after the 2016 election.

If you're angry at Obama for "not doing anything about Russian interference, you must be furious at the Trump people for embracing it.

Yeah, let's hear from the swampy spin doctor who runs Mitch McConnell's PAC, I'm sure he'll be worth listening to.

Funny how he doesn't mention that McConnell refused to sign on to a bipartisan statement in 2016 condemning Russian election interference.

Was this before or after they patted themselves on the back for such "great" reporting over the past two years? Idiots.

Hey, my dear American brothers, can you point to us where in the report Trump and his associates behaved like loyal, law-abiding, patriotic Americans?

You know, when they called the FBI or the CIA or told Republican Congressmen or the State Department or George W. Bush or ANY AMERICAN that, hey, there are a whole bunch of RUSSIANS who want to help us win the election? Or after the election, when did they tell ANYONE, hey, these Russians seem to want something in return for helping us win the election?

You do realize that a hostile foreign power attacked our country and, AT BEST, Trump & his buddies didn't do a damn thing to stop them.

What if, instead, say, North Korea did the hacking, and Hillary and her campaign behaved the way the Trumpkins did - somehow I think you'd believe that was a problem.

When did Russia help anyone win the election?

Did they hack half the country somehow to vote Republican?

Do you hear random voices in your head?

Here is the conman with severe memory lapse. Did he bang his head some where or maybe it’s all that spanking from stormy(and other porn stars) that has turned his brain into mush.

Barr is the winner here. He will go down in history as the AG who saved our country. The haters are never his fans anyway.

A fellow American, welcome brother.

Yes I agree, soon all the details about the Mueller investigation was just another tool in a weak attempt to oust an elected President.

You're right. And neither did the Obama administration. Downright shameful.

Talk about blame shifting. My guy is a criminal but I don’t care about that BUT how about that guy over there , he seems like a criminal too because I think so.

I said you are right! I didn't say I don't care about that. I do care. Calm down. God forbid someone not be 100% black and white and say the right talking points. You instantly shut down.

I think you don't know to many people. People love the guy here. He's fighting the establishment from both parties. It's great.

If by ‘fighting the establishment’ you mean destroying the Government, appointing incompetent boobs, deregulating clean air/water/food, removing financial safeguards, ignoring global warming, gutting health care, using the Presidency as his personal piggy bank, making shady deals with ruthless tyrants, treating immigrants like dirt, suppressing the vote, and being an all around obnoxious a—h——, then you’re right. But I guess you like fascist dictators.

You mean removing government burdensome regulations and keeping incompatible people out of our country?

That's hardly fascist- that's more libertarian, maybe a little protectionist.

Definately "America First" rather than the death by a thousand cuts of socialism fast track we were on.

Name a burdensome regulation. Just one.

And WTF is an incompatible person and who gets to decide what that means?

Maybe YOU should leave the USA.

Actually, the Obama Adminnistration started a counterintelligence operation (this would be the investigators Barr and Trump want to investigate) and then he imposed sanctions on Russia. He also asked Mitch McConnell, the head of the GOP at the time, to issue a bi-partisan statement and warning to the American people. McConnell declined and said that if Obama issued such a statement unilaterially, it would be open warfare on the election.

What would YOU have done differently?

The fact that the same media has been saying, repeatedly, for the past 2+ years that Trump was colluding with Russia, his kids and family were all involved, and that he would certainly be found guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors shows how much confidence we should have in this media. They were humiliated as a result of the findings, but are so clueless that they praise themselves for such "hard-hitting journalism." They have become a joke.

You trolls are so predictable. First, you don’t even understand the difference between a criminal indictment and impeachment. Second, you didn’t read the report. Third, the only reason Junior wasn’t indicted is because Mueller thought that he was too damn stupid to know what he was doing. Fourth, there are multiple documented instances of Trump’s minions communicating with highly questionable Russians. Fifth, almost no one beyond Barr knows what’s in the report’s redactions, and given Barr’s craven performance to date it’s probably the most damning material in the report. Sixth, Mueller does not appear to have gone into Trump’s finances, which clearly are highly suspect since Trump is terrified of anyone finding out about them. Seventh, Mueller has spawned 14 additional investigations which will go into Trump and his family’s finances and I’m pretty sure it will get ugly.

I guess we could take the easy way out and lump Trump’s many transgressions of all that is decent and honorable into some banal slogan like MAGA, but it isn’t that easy, and it shouldn’t be. Let me guess your response: “Derp, you lost libtard.”

This is a good question. Read the Mueller report, you will find Russia started the interference in 2014. The Mueller report is a stunning rebuke of the Obama administration's inaction.

"They" should refer to the Obama administration. They opened a counter-intelligence investigation in 2016. So they knew Russia's activities. Why didn't the Obama tell anyone, including the Trump campaign?? They could have told Trump in August of 2016 during the intel briefing. Perhaps the reason why Obama admin was ineffective in countering Russia is that they focused all their energy surveilling and framing American citizens (Trump campaign)?

They did tell the Trump campaign, multiple times starting in August 2016. Trump's campaign both deflected and denied it. It was a puzzling reaction to those in the briefing. Don't you find that rather odd?

What response should they have done? There are no "laws" right now with cyberwarfare. How do you respond in kind? Do you escalate? I don't know. But I bet they had those conversations. Without bi-partisan agreement any public action would be tainted (in perception if not fact).

Heck, just this year Brian Kemp used his government position to officially lie and open an investigation into the Abrams campaign for hacking. What actually happened? A security reseacher privately informed then that their system had known vulnerabilities. This happened after all this Russia stuff was known. Blame McConnell, he's the one who refused to do anything.

First, we've never been a mob rule democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic- you cannot get the majority to vote away people's personal rights.

Second, I have yet to hear what Trump lied about specifically, two years of investigating and now nothing.

Time to investigate the previous administration.

Wait till they start charging members of the previous administration for their little attempted coup against an elected President.
