You should probably take the time to learn something about our history and the steps Warren Christopher and the Carter Administration took to secure the release pursuant to the Algiers Accords. The Shah had died, Iran was in the verge of war with Saddam and needed the US to release about $8 billion in frozen Iranian assets, and Iran agreed to fund an international claims tribunal. Carter was also very fearful that the hostages would be tried and executed if Reagan fulfilled his campaign promise NOT to negotiate.
