Are liberals blaming the black mother on welfare with six kids and no father(s) for her irresponsible life choices? Or are they talking about systemic racism, the history of slavery, etc., etc.?

This kid chose to be reckless. Those women didn't choose to grow up in poverty. Not pardoning their choices, but it's way more complicated than his case.

A college kid goes to NK (admittedly something most people would not do) for a handful of days and the consequences are his fault but a woman who grows up in poverty, has multiple children she cannot afford with no father around, thereby messing up those kids' lives and expecting the taxpayer to take of them, gets a free pass to make stupid decisions for the rest of her life? And then when her children make the same poor choices because they grew up in poverty and the cycle continues, they get a free pass too?

He went to NK without his parent's knowledge and against government warnings. THEN, he broke the law there. Pretty reckless and illegal.

The women you despise may have made some bad choices, but aren't doing anything quite so reckless or illegal. They really aren't relevant here at all.

We don't know why he is on a coma. No signs of trauma. Looks like cardiac issue which could have been caused by a variety of reasons. Maybe he was but we don't really know.

Bergdahl was active duty military. And they have a do not rest until every last solider/ POW comes home, dead or alive, motto. They are still looking for Vietnam era soldiers-- dead or alive. In Bergdahl's case, I don't think it was worth it. But, that's not really my place to say, since I have never served. I defer to the military on Bergdahl, because getting him home, even if he was a traitor, is part of their code.

Most people recognize that there is a difference between disappearing while being active duty military and disappearing while being a stupid tourist. Now, Bergdahl was being stupid and traitorous active duty military. But the military still wanted him. And he was considered active duty military when he came back.

You're missing the point. Both did something stupid and our government made the effort to bring them both home. You all can spin the facts all you want but it's interesting that with Bergdahl "its not really your place to say" if it's worth it, but with Otto, you can't keep your mouth shut about how our government shouldn't bring home an American.

The sick thing is that I believe that they did this to him intentionally. It was "witchy", and they like that.
What I know about this is that they put him in a state that allows him to breathe on his own, but otherwise in a coma. To do that, to get him in that exact spot, requires "expertise". The Chinese have done similar things to death penalty victims to be able to use the organs later. I suspect that his brain oxygen deprivation was carefully carried out, but it must have been brutal for him.

While I believe this individual was of age to make his own decisions -- were it my child I would seriously seriously discourage going to NK. I have no idea what the parents did in this case. But like I said - this individual was of age to make his own decisions.
