Watching "Outdaughtered" again

They go to and have gone to the private preschool where Blayke went. It could be that they get a tuition break because the school's featured on the show. Whatever the case, I'm happy for Riley. She seems very bright, but bored and unhappy; she also gets a lot of crap from her family about being "bad." Maybe being in a more stimulating educational environment will help her be more challenged and not so bored.

It sounds like Riley is doing the K class at the daycare/preschool they go to. So not quite the same as going to public school K.

Apparently it's at the same school as the pre-school; they offer two levels of that and also kindergarten. First grade will be in a separate building. Presumably they'll let her advance to that, too, rather than wait for the other four to catch up!

Danielle's characteristically under-enthused Instagram post about it. She just can't help criticizing poor Riley at every turn. If it were any of the other four, she would be praising her intelligence to the skies.

"...Riley Paige gets to ride with us every morning now since she is in the private kindergarten class at the Quints school and goes everyday. How does this little girl has so much energy in the mornings to??talk so much??? #justlikeherdaddy#mommynotawakeyet#notamorningperson"

Anyone else think she almost hates that little girl? Just me???

Yes, it really does seem like she's got a personal axe to grind with Riley. It's awful and I'm really sad that not only does Riley have to live through it, but it'll be on tape forever for her to see again and again.

I've seen it before. A genuine resentment from a mother toward (usually) a daughter, and you can even see it on reruns on reality TV! Kate Gosselin with Colin (and we all know how that turned out; badly) as well as Amber Johnston (of "7 Little Johnstons" on TLC) and poor scapegoated Anna. Danielle tries to pass it off as "joking," but you can see that Riley doesn't quite get the joke (she wouldn't, at two or three) and also... It's not actually a joke. No child should be labeled as "bad," especially when she's not. I find this dynamic very disturbing.

Advancing one girl seems like a terrible idea.

Why? She should be placed according to her ability, not according to the rest of the "pack."

Thats a classic Liberal way of thinking. Screw the Individual. Its all about the group/Mob mentality.

I hope Riley can keep it together in a classroom with none of her sisters. If she starts that flopping on the floor like a dying fish like she did in the hotel room in Hawaii snd the Disney Cruise ship. My little sister used to pull that BS and after being told 3 times to get up off the floor my mom or dad would grab her by the hair and stand her up. She cleaned up her act pretty quick.

The above sounds like a good reason to put her in a different class. Building some skills for independence can really help kids build self control, and it sounds like she might do better in an environment where she is treated as an individual rather than part of a group.

Not to mention, she may "misbehave" because she's bored out of her mind. It's a wonder they all aren't bored out of their minds with their idiot parents.

I've watched every episode, and I've seen Ava "misbehave" far more than Riley. Yet Danielle turns a blind eye, even blaming Riley for things that aren't her fault. She really seems to have it in for her! At least now she's out of the house more hours of the day.

Honestly, it seems like Danielle hates Riley because Riley is the prettiest of them all - on top of that, she’s also very smart considering she’s already in Kindergarten.
Olivia and Ava look a lot like Danielle and Blayke. Parker looks a lot like Adam and Riley is a mix of them two. Hazel is still hard to tell since she’s still catching up.
They’re all cute but Danielle is obviously envious about Riley’s looks. The other kids are relatable and mini-me’s, Hazel gets her attention because her ‘poor baby is sick’. It just seems like she dislikes Adam and thus dislikes the two that look more like him (Parker and Riley).

I think you've got that right! Of course now Parker has an official diagnosis (label), so Danielle HAS to go out of her way to be nice to her, such as the quality alone time telling her how proud she is of her on the hammock during the cruise. That leaves just Riley to be her "whipping boy," and I'm sure her being promoted above and beyond her mothers favorites (Ava, Olivia, and sick Hazel) hasn't helped.

I agree with both of you! I've been catching reruns of "Quints by Surprise" on TLC early mornings and it's such a contrast between the Jones and Busby families.

Yes, the Johnsons are sooooo mean to Ana. She clearly is special needs and they just rail on her nonstop. It’s mean.

It's the "black sheep of the family" or "scapegoating" syndrome (dysfunctional family dynamic); again, it was Colin in the Gosselins and is Anna in the Johnstons and Riley in the Busbys. Fascinating from a psychological perspective, but not funny to the kid when he or she becomes the running joke or "B-A-D" one.

What kind of preschool gives academic tests to 4yos like that? Is it a real school?

Private preschool. I doubt if it has to be "licensed" or anything (probably not until first grade level).

"...and not with the newbie Dr. Meagan who is practising on Hazel when Hazel needs an old schood doctor..."

As much as I hate to, I agree with you here. They switched to "Dr. Meagan" (how old is she; 18?) because their former doctor moved to Dallas, and now they're chasing four hours to Dallas to see...that's right...Dr. Meagan, who also moved to Dallas! What is up with that?

Just watched the latest episode of "Outdaughtered" (Oct 1, 2019). I love this show but Danielle is turning into a horrible wife (following in the footsteps of Kate Goselin), Adam has to work and go to meetings but she acts like a spoiled brat. Deal with it, he is trying to support you and your family and she acts like he is not being a good Dad or husband when he has to leave. Grow up Danielle and be thankful everyday for what you have. I will continue to watch the show but hope that she gets an attitude makeover.
