https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peoples_Drug Peoples Drug was founded by Malcolm Gibbs in 1905 at 824 7th Street, NW. Washington DC. People Drug was in business for 85 years. CVS is not from DC and has been in the area for less than 25 years. Big difference. |
Yep. |
The person who posted those remarks is a typical transplant obsessed with their newfound urbanness. Little does he/she know the "lame suburbs" are filled with native Washingtonians who were born and raised in DC. Native Washingtonians who were in DC for decades. Wayyyyyyy before today's trendy, wannabe urban transplants arrived here. |
![]() ![]() People were buying from trucks and riding bicycles in DC way before today's trendy urban try-hard gentrifiers ever set foot in DC. Before they were even born. |
When transplants buy from a truck or ride a bicycle they announce it on social media and try to turn it into a media event.
They all think they deserve media coverage simply for existing. They are urban and they want the entire world to know about it. |
The nerve attached to my funny bone, maybe. Just amused that anyone would think those lame insults would hurt anyone's feelings. |
Me thinks thou dost protest too much.... |
Finally, after decades of violence by blacks, non-blacks are coming back into town to reenact the happy times displayed in those pics. |
So true. And they NEVER get over the excitement of living in DC!!!!!!!! There will never be a new locally-sourced restaurant opening without some transplant on my facebook going on and on about it, assuring everyone that they're gonna go. The sad thing is sometimes someone from the BFE town they came from will comment, like, "Wow! You go to so many cool places" or some such other comment. Many transplants are living out their own version of "The Beverly Hillbillies." |
+1000 I also realize that DC natives stand up for the wrong things, have no commons sense, and waste their time on the wrong issues. So there is that. Thanks for enlightening me, DC natives! |
One would think. |
Thanks for showing the "transplants" your true colors. Because if one is not "from DC" one must be from a remarkably "sad, uncultured, hillbilly background". Or not. Perhaps it is just the opposite. But I don't suppose a native could possibly imagine so, could they? |
+1,000,000. Obviously not all DC natives share those characteristics, as I know many quite impressive folks born here, but on average quality is growing leaps and bounds. |
I don't know many hillbillies who come to DC, mostly sophisticated international folks who find it a little disappointing.
Most of the hillbillies who move, go to Los Angeles. |
