Why is there so much opposition to ending birthright citizenship?

On the plus side, ending birthright citizenship could have saved us from all the Trumps and Musk as well.

For starters, Spain, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Greece, Australia, Japan, Singapore, China, Colombia, nor the Czech Republic and any of the many other countries liberals say they're going to move to do not have birth right citizenship. What Trump is proposing isn't extreme at all, so why is there resistance to enacting common sense reform? It's also funny too, because as these elections showed, many coming over the border who eventually establish themselves aren't even Democratic voters either, so the Dems may actually seriously want to rethink they're immigration and citizenship policies before they blindly stand up for making it extremely easy for letting in millions of super catholic people who are now showing to be socially conservative and supporters of traditional family values. There was a time when the 14th amendment served a purpose, but it is the year 2024. Birthright citizenship is now much more of a security liability than anything. Why shouldn't we end it when most of the countries liberals espouse and hold up as role models don't even have it?

Because urban elite demand slave labor

Well, he's signing the executive order today.

What will happen?

The same thing that would happen if a Democrat President tried to entirely do away with the 2nd Amendment via executive order.

Don’t interrupt the urban elite circle jerk

He is signing an executive order today. No doubt Democrats will sue in an attempt to protect the illegal alien squatters. They use the citizenship of their anchor babies to access welfare, food stamps, health care and a whole host of public benefits. Trump needs to take this case all the way to the Supreme Court in order to restore integrity to our citizenship process.

Because it’s in the Constitution?? EO doesn’t override the constitution but ok.

No. This is a distraction. Trump can’t change the Constitution with an EO.

Trump should focus on grocery prices.

Because he and SCOTUS get to decide what Amendment is legal? So one day we'll get rid of the 2nd Amendment the same way?

I thought he is going to argue they can be considered invaders and therefore shouldn’t have citizenship. It’s not a bad argument.

They interpret the constitution. This is a perfect case for them.

Something else he has zero control over. What ever happened to “free markets”? We are capitalists until we aren’t, I guess.

Then, one day the 2nd Amendment will be as well.

Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, Ireland have all recently revised birth rite citizenship.

“A person born in Australia acquires Australian citizenship by birth only if at least one parent was an Australian citizen or permanent resident; or else after living the first ten years of their life in Australia, regardless of their parents' citizenship status”

There are tens of thousands of rich Russians, Chinese, Koreans, South Americans amongst others who fly to the US tu have children then within weeks fly home. The children have US citizenship so can attend college in the US (often for free because it is so much easier to hide assets overseas) and come and work when they are adults.

This really shouldn’t be allowed. Australia’s law seems reasonable. If you are the child jf a citizen or permanent resident then you get citizenship. If your parents are undocumented you need to live in the US the first ten years of your life.

Fly in/fly out citizenship shouldn’t be allowed.

Trump promised to bring down grocery prices and “make America affordable on day 1.” It’s day 1. Trump needs to focus on affordability starting with grocery prices.

He chose to campaign on the price of eggs so they’d best come down.
