Got divorced in April.

Wonder if his wife knew.

She showed up to the school yelling at him in the parking lot one day in March, so, yeah, probably.

This is so freaking disturbing. What a total creep. MCPS should be ashamed..

It's early in the week, but does anyone have info as to whether MCPS is planning a press conference this week? I'm sure leadership is working in an all hands on deck, crisis mode, especially communications & the general counsel's office.

There needs to be a change at the Board of Education, and I don't mean a change in who is on it. I mean a change in the structural relationship between MCPS and the Board of Education. The Board of Education is supposed to lead MCPS, but right now, MCPS has 99.9% of the power. Does the Board of Education have ANYONE who works for them? In addition, school board member is a part-time position that pays $25,000 a year, unless you're the president, and then you get a whole $29,000 a year. Shouldn't the voters expect more of school board members and also pay them more?

Yes: https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/directory/directory_Boxoffice.aspx?processlevel=10711

What does the "internal audit unit" do?

They probably do some investigations/data analyses that don't get made public.

They work for MCPS so don't expect much from them. From my experience dealing with the internal audit unit, it became crystal clear to me that this group works to protect MCPS first and foremost.

I'm sure all we will hear is that "it is a personnel issue" and that they cannot discuss it.

They shouldn't discuss personnel issues. They should discuss their own failures and what they are going to do about them.

A question I have is whether the "investigation" is about Biedleman is it about MCPS. If it's just about Biedleman it had better be fast, rather than paying someone they could use all the info they ignored to fire him immediately. They need someone to investigate them and it should be hired by and report to the County Council who allocates MCPS's funding.

Unlikely. MCPS doesn’t really want to acknowledge this.

They should. The county council members have started tweeting and shaming MCPS.

I completely agree with the PPs that call for higher pay for BOE members. It's a $3 billion budget.l, and that's just the operating side. The fact that school board members get paid so little across the country is frankly shameful and reflects how lite we care about children. No wonder MCPS lacks accountability. There is nobody with sufficient resources and power to put a check on the superintendent.

We are paying ~400k a year for this cronyism and ineptitude! Jack Smith passed up a pay raise because of the budget constraints with covid

We waste so much money on putting people on leave! A principal who just retired from Magruder is at Rocking Horse Road Center collecting $$$ until October 2023.

Your comment is so misleading. Both teachers and admin are a part of the same county and state pension system. Everyone can't retire on June 30th and reap full retirement benefits. So in this case, he announced his retirement so they can name his successor rather than wait until October after school was in session. I know of a teacher retiring in December in the middle of the year. If she had enough accrued leave, she would have done the same.

Should be a fun Monday at work!

Monifa is paid over $300k plus insane benefits and she did nothing. Only a moco kook would respond to this organized ineptitude with a call for pay raises.

What kind of people bring a loud personal argument to a public space where children are? Disgusting lack of class all around.

It’s a common theme- promote failure!
