Dish drying rack question

Anonymous
Not sure if this is a home decor forum question.

I've notice during the last several visits w/ friends that none of them had a dish drying rack. When I host a larger group of people, I will stow mine away but generally I leave it out. Do you use one? Do you keep it out or put it away when not in use?

I don't have one. We stack dirty dishes straight into the dishwasher. I have very limited counter space and the dish rack takes up too much room.
If something needs to be hand washed I dry it with a towel and put it away at once.

+1 can't stand the sight of dishes dirty or clean. They're in use, in the dishwasher or put away.

I have a boon lawn for my never ending washing of baby bottles, and use a drying pad for larger stuff that i don't put in the dishwasher. I store the drying pad away when not in use.

Get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Grey-Over-Roll-Up-Drying-1434/dp/B00HET3GEW

Mine rolls up and gets stashed under my sink when not in use. It's awesome in a small house.

I have a small one that sits in one side of my double sink. I hand wash my pots/pans, Tupperware, knives, etc so it's always out. It's IN the sink though, so you don't see it unless you're standing right there.

I just threw mine out because I haven't used it since I was washing bottle nipples (youngest is 7). I do wind up washing a few things by hand daily when they don't fit in the dishwasher but I just lay them on a towel, dry them off, and put them away.

I have a wood drying rack that DH bought when he was in college! I use it every day. It looks nice out. We have a ton of dishes, and it's always got something on it. I don't have the time to dry everything and put it away, so I have to have a drying rack. Very small house, limited counter space, but this is a must for us. It sure beats the old plastic one my mother had on her formica countertop when I was growing up! It's not really ugly, not pretty, but life is too short to be drying dishes!

I use one of those microfiber drying mats that is the same color as my countertop (almost black). I don't leave anything drying on it for more than a night and hate the bulk and look of drying racks. We have a dishwasher and the only things I hand wash anyway are pots and pans and Tupperware and those don't fit in racks very well anyway.

I have one that stays out all the time. I don't really care what guests think of it. It's functional.

We used to have a drying rack but after we redid the kitchen we switched to one of those drying mats and are happier (might even have learned about it here)

Can't live without one and don't know how others don't.

Also, I find it annoying when I am at someone's house and trying to be a good guest by washing my glass and then I don't know where to put it when it's clean.

No way. I hate dishes being left out. They get rinsed and go straight into dishwasher. Anything that is hand washed is in a clean towel on the counter that gets replaced daily. Just got a boon thingy for new baby, will see how that goes bc I like my counters as clear as possible.

It goes in the dishwasher! Or in the sink if dishwasher is full.
