I don't use one, I don't like clutter. |
No drying rack for me either. Place the dishes in dishwasher or hand wash and put away. The second step doesn't take that long, and I like having a clean and clutter free kitchen. |
Couldn't live without one. I wash a ton of things by hand and hate using the dish towel to dry them because dish towels can get greasy from people wiping things while cooking etc. us I hate running the dishwasher if it's not full -such a waste- do I sometimes need to wash stuff by hand to make sure it's clean when I need it (like sippy cups...) |
I can't stand drying racks. I think they're icky. We wash pots/pans and wine glasses by hand, but everything else goes in the dishwasher. Pots and pans are dried after I'm done washing and then they're put away. Can't stand leaving things looking messy on the counter.
Also, we don't run our dishwasher until it's full (about every 3-4 days) and have no trouble with getting our dishes clean. |
How often do you throw your dish towels in the washer? Dish towels are just icky to me. I handwash a lot of things and they go on the dishrack to put away later. |
I have a dish drying pad that is the same color as the countertop and stays out all the time. I'd much rather not have it out, but there is usually at least one pan/crockpot crock/casserole dish that DH washes by hand each night. If I don't leave it out, he will just set the wet dish on the counter, it doesn't occur to him to put the dish towel out or get out a mat.
No need for a full drying rack, we don't have that much hand-wash stuff. The pad is a non-intrusive alternative that still lets us set stuff to dry. |
+1 when we redid our kitchen I cleaned out below the sink in hopes of putting it away more frequently. Who am I kidding! I should be thrilled my boys wash theire dishes - drying and putting them away is a stretch. |
Air drying is considered more sanitary than towel drying.

I put a fresh one out every day. It's dedicated to sitting next to sink, doesn't get used for cleaning, wiping other stuff etc. otherwise I agree it is icky |
