WIS Dad driving his black FIAT

If you are late to get your son to school, honking at cars in front of you at a stop sign at Newark Street won't get you there faster. We have to wait for traffic to break on 34th Street. When you almost caused an accident turning into traffic from 34th and McComb, I thought about writing your license plate down. If you do it again, I'll drive straight to the school and wait for you to come out.

Uh-oh...

See, this is the downside of having those school magnets on the car bumper. It's occurred to me that having the two magnets we do on the car makes us pretty identifiable, since very few kids have that particular combination of schools. I think I will take one off...or maybe both, so I can be a jerk on the road in peace!

The neighborhood got all the speed humps because of people like this driver, and may ask for more.

+1 try to keep your license plate as dirty as possible. I always make sure it's just dirty enough so that you can only clearly see 2 letters and 3 numbers.

Good for you OP, makes me nuts as well. Our school plagued with drivers pulling up to the lane and cutting in at last moment - like you don't know where car line starts? Nice try.

I'm sure Fiat dad is on the private schools forum of DCUM.

I've wondered why they don't put a traffic signal there, so it would be earlier to go that way.

He may not be on DCUM but you can bet your bottom dollar that the word will get out at WIS that someone is on the war path. I'm sure there might be one or two folk from WIS that read DCUM.

For that reason and the fact that I don't like to brag, I don't put magnets on my car.

Because then more people would use the street as a so called cut-through. So the Newark Street people are ok with using everyone else's street to their hearts content, but are not ok with others using their street.

That about sums up the attitude on Newark st. Maybe they will request more speed bumps.

With traffic signals at Macomb, Lowell, and Woodley, the traffic backups in the morning and afternoon are already huge. And there's another one at Porter. That makes four lights in six blocks.
