Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)

Wow. Just horrible.
http://www.gazette.net/article/20141203/NEWS/141209633/1124/montgomery-schools-work-group-examining-child-abuse-policies&template=gazette "The school district has shown it is “unwilling or uncapable” of making necessary changes, she said, and needs to hire an outside agency to investigate and set up policies and procedures for the district regarding child abuse. “Their absolute refusal to be transparent about policies and procedures, their refusal to post an employee code of conduct, their refusal to be open with parents about the magnitude and extent of the problem is keeping children in danger,” she said. |

Quote from the article: The group’s goal is “to take a holistic view of this and come back with a more built-out and robust program” around the issue of child abuse, said Andrew Zuckerman, the school system’s chief of staff who is leading the group.
1. Why is this guy leading the group? What experience, if any, does he have in the topic? 2. "holistic" view of "this?" What the H does that even mean? A holistic view of child abuse? A holistic view of protecting the MCPS reputation at all costs? 3. You will notice that the police held their press conference without participation from anyone in MCPS. Where were they and why weren't they presenting a unified front against the problem? 4. Starr had a last minute press advisory at 4 in the afternoon where he said nothing and dodged questions, according to ABC 7. 5. Why is the individual who sent the Alleged victim at Roberto Clemente back to class still employed by MCPS? |
| I have no faith in the school system. But I glad police and CPS are on that committee. |
I AM glad.... |
|
There needs to be someone from the district attorney's office on the committee. I have more faith in the police than CPS. CPS is overworked and less effective. The police are not happy with MCPS and have no intention of playing MCPS PR games and furthering Starr's personal agenda. Starr's arrogance at trying to hush the police just pisses them off more so they should be helpful pushing for immediate disclosures which will better protect students.
It amazes me that MCPS gets away with this. Why do we allow them to be above the law? |
There is. State's Attorney is there. |
The committee is all for show. It makes it appear they are addressing it. Instead of computers we need cameras, security, yearly background checks and a lot more. The county wastes so much money on nothing, including workgroups that in reality do nothing. They need a complete overhaul if this is happening on such a large scale. |
|
One conviction of a MCPS administrator of failure to disclose would solve the problem. These people do not believe that they are responsible in any way and are only out for themselves. If they know there is a consequence they will turn around fast.
The DA needs to send a message. |
